occasional stall on start-up

hey guys,
as the title says my car stalls immediatly after or during start-up - only on warm/hot engine and only on the first try.

not to worried about it atm as it only happens once or twice a week and starts perfect on second try but would like to know the reason none the less.
no codes on durametric.

further i said in an earlier thread that i also get some blue smoke on startup occasionally.
this stopped completly as the oil level went from full to 1/3.
got the message to refill a Liter on the dash - did so - blue smoke is back again. will changing oil from 0W40 to 5W50 solve that issue?
to be honest i'm a bit ashamed when firing her up whilst people are watching

i'd also like to know what the oilpressure should look like on startup/idle/load.
i see 5bar on cold start / 1.5 on idle and 5 when over 3k rpm - normal?

thanks!
Luke

Your pressures are like mine.

When the cars stalls does it sputter and die or just cut off?

no sputter - everthing sounds normal - it just stalls on initial ignition.

Mine does the same, it seems as the starter gets cut off.

New Battery didn't help.

is this happening mostly in the summer? I read something about summer blended fuel that make cars stutter and have harder start ups.

Regarding the blue smoke. I only have that if I fired up the car and needed to shut it off immediately. Then on the following start up, she blows a puff of blue smoke. I have thought much about it as our cars burn a little oil, I read about a .5 litre/quart per 1000 miles

Guys i had this starting issue and fixed it by upgrading the power cable to the larger gauge cable.

Its a PITA to replace bit will solve your issues 100%.

Also check the grounding strap.

Black Betty is infamous around these parts
Start & Stall 997.1 TT

I bought my car last May and the only issue has been this same "Start & Stall" deal. Mine acts like a switch, bam, it's off. No sputter or burps, just off. I just start it back up & have no prob for a week or so.

Last week I decided to remove the airbox and take a look at things, mainly the belt condition etc.

I noticed that when I was loosening the clamps on the ducts that some of them where a little bit loose and the hoses kinda popped right off ! I know these don't need to be cranked on, but I'm thinking they could have been loose enough to suck a little outside air when starting. It's been a week since I re-installed the airbox & Betty seems to be feeling better now ! No stalls yet, keep you posted at 1 month.

Update please. Problem went away? I have this same issue occasionally. Only on warm engine. If the car sits about a hour or more, no problem.

I´d like more info on the gauge cable.

I also have the very occasional stall upon startup. It cranks properly and sounds like it is about to rev up, but just falls on its face. Kinda embarrassing.

For those who have the occasional stall upon startup, do you also have the occasional increased rev-up during startup? I'm curious if both issues are related.
