Seat Belt Chime - 07tt

Hey guys. I always wear my seat belt--- but many times need to take it off to access an ATM or badge into a parking deck as well as when reversing into my garage. This car has such an annoying seat belt warning chime that immediately kicks on. It's almost embarrassing after badging into my parking deck to drive through the garage hearing... ding... ding... ding.... ding... ding...

Is there a way to disable the chime? I did some searches and was unable to find results.

Thanks!

Yes, this can be done with PIWIS, or Durametric Pro. It is controlled through the DME. No manual way to disable without programming. It is a simple process, of checking one variable and takes 10 seconds.

Good luck.

You can disable the seatbelt chime and warning light by jumping the leads under the seat by faking it's buckled. I track my car and switch seats all the time. Just unbolt your seat, follow wires from inside buckle to the plastic connectors, get a wire and jump the 2. Basically tricks car into thinking it's always buckled. This maybe a safety hazard, so don't hold me accountable. . My dealer didn't want to do it for some legal reason.

do search under durametric here & RL. some good info on few threads-
you need pro version- i stopped seatbelt chime on my 07TT & wife 07 Boxster S- believe it's under airbag- coding- then drivers side belt buckle- chg from yes to no- then should have no chime when drivers seat belt not buckled- the dash belt buckle light does blink for few seconds but no chime-

The enthusiast version is only for diagnostics and clearing certain codes. It cannot do logs or change parameters. Very limited in that regard, think of it as a top of the line OBDII code reader, but not much more.

Guys,

I am not judging anyone and not looking for any argument either but please wear your seatbelts. From a guy who has been saved by wearing one (Not in my P car)let the chime drive you NUTS until you buckle up.

Enjoy your car this weekend- and buckle up.

Public service announcement over..........

In the past I talked to a couple of shops and a police officer friend of mine and I was told that disabling the chime could be a very serious Federal offence as there is a law around "tampering with a vehicle's safety equipment". Their point was that if I disable the chime, and someone gets in an accident when a seatbelt was not worn, that I will be liable under that Federal law. Based on that tidbit of scary information, I found an old seat belt and made a "plug" that I would plug in to shut the chime off.

I hope someone with more knowledge than me can verify or repute this. Thanks.
