Unhappy Just a dying battery or bigger problems?

This morning I went to start my '09 which I have not driven since last Friday, but it would not turn over. I had not left the lights on or any accessories running. When I tried to start it the lights flashed, driver's window started rolling down and the car in general seemed to be "freaking out" but the starter would not turn. I'm a pretty new owner so am not familiar with how these cars behave when the battery is low.

It's on a charger now but I am at work all day wondering WTF is going on.

I bought it CPO but do not know if the battery was replaced or is original i.e., 5 years old (paperwork is at home.)

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Sound like it is time for a new battery. Oh and they have time and distance for a CPO battery replacement. I think you have to average so many miles a month over the life of the car for them to replace the battery.

Sounds like a battery for sure. I wouldn't worry.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, if the car runs fine after charging then I'll check the age of the battery and proceed from there.

Maybe this will motivate me to drive it more often...

I think if you do not drive it for more than a week, just disconnect the battery, bad battery can go bad even over-night I've seen that happen before

Now I have the little Porsche Tecquipment cig lighter charger so I can keep it on that when I'm traveling or whatnot.

My car did start right up after charging. It has some dash warnings lit-up (ABS, PSM, TPM) so I guess those systems need relearning or reset. I do not see a date on the battery but it is an OE Porsche battery and probably original. I'll check if CPO will cover it (doubtful) and if not I'll probably go with an Optima - had good experiences with those in other cars.

Thanks again for the info and reassurances.

Update: I unplugged the charger last night and this morning the car would not start again. Probably lucky that I did not leave it on the charger, as then I might have driven to work and had the battery die there! So I installed a Bosch Platinum AGM H7/L4/94R and hopefully will be all set for a few years.

Thanks again everyone.
