997.1 tt tip

Hi all,
I have a 997 turbo tip, does the tip suffer much more transmission loss over the manual? If so how much?

as far as what? If you are looking for an HP number to the wheels you might have a lower number, but the speed and times will always be faster on a tip and manual with same HP numbers. Actually you can have a lower Hp number tip and it will be faster than the manual to a point.

Thanks for the help, I know the tip is 0.2 quicker to 60mph in standard form is it still quicker to 100mph.
The reason I ask is I heard the tip is quicker to 60mph because it has 1 less gear change.

Tip and PDK hold boost between shifts. You arent getting to 5th on a 0-60 run, unless you are trying to save gas. FYI not that 0-60 times really matter much but a lot of people are closer to 3.0 0-60 in their tip some only have an exhaust.

Thats what is cool about a Porsche, you can get either the manual and you have a great shifting car that is a rocket, funny thing is the stock shift is some smooth that its not the first thing to be swapped like with most cars. Or you can get the tip for those that like concentrate 100% on the driving feel.

Picked up my car from normal maintenance, and it was parked between a 2012 458 and a 2012 PDK turbo S. My 07 tip will take the 458, and the S would destroy it. ( most of the guys said " the 07 will easily take the 458 and the S will destroy it.) Granted that is with a decent driver whom I dont rate myself with.

Add a tune and exhaust to your turbo and you will drastically reduce the gap from a stock S. You can find several instances on here where a tip turbo with said mods ran in the 10's, which is excellent given the minimal additional cash. As you'll learn, it's all about your ability to launch from a stop…after that push the pedal and hold on.

+1 all the way. 911 turbo's are 1 car that getting a Tip doesn't really hurt you for acceleration. I have some friends in your neck of the woods if I can help...Nice tune and exhaust you will walk all over a .2 and sound great doing it!

In the back of your owner's manual there's a chart and 0-60 figures. The manual is 3.7, the tip is 3.4. That may be with brake boosting though.

With brake boosting and testing using a Vbox my 08 997.1tt tip was doing 2.8 0-60 (1 foot roll on) and 3.0 without. I do have a tune and stock exhaust. I should get slightly better results at the drag strip.

Add a tune and you will feel a big difference
