I purchased an AccessPort and a custom tune from PTF about two months ago. Little did I know what I was getting myself into, lol. Decided it was finally time to install the GT2RS intercoolers I've had laying around for this car since February, haha. Install wasn't bad. The results are nothing short of amazing for the $$. With the stockers, a single 3rd gear pull would always result in IATs in the 120s. I did a long 4th gear pull (30-130) with start temps of 74 and end temp of 96 deg. A 2,3,4 gear pull (30-130 also) showed a max of 108 deg. These units also recover very quickly. Within 30 seconds, IATs were back to baseline. Huge improvement.
With the new Cobb software and intercoolers power improved, as did the smoothness...but I finally pushed the clutch to the brink (though I did run a 7.31 60-130 vbox verified driving around my clutch on a lower boost map with two shifts!). I'm having to stay off of sport mode as on these cool days, there's just too much torque for the factory clutch setup.
Scheduled for the 15th. I'm adding the Sachs 2.5, ID 1000cc injectors, do88.se turbo inlet pipes as well as doing a smattering of maintenance including new plugs, coils, fuel filter, rear main seal, water pump, and pinning the coolant fittings.
I plan on tuning the car the rest of the way out on pump gas. I would like to at least match PTF's 7.1 60-130 on pump gas, and then I'm moving on to E85 on the factory turbos for now.
I thought the GT2RS intercoolers required hacking up the upper air guide. Is there an OEM way of getting these installed? DO you mind sharing a parts list?

There is a guide. You only have to trim a small amount of material off of the upper duct, technically speaking. I did it with a small, basic dremel in 5 minutes. The plastic is soft and easily cut. The only parts I used were the intercoolers and zip ties. You need a basic drill bit to cut the holes in the lower ducting to put the zip ties through.
I'm actually about to hit you up for the ID1k map. Going to have it loaded in the AP so the mechanic can flash it and start the car and make sure it is sound before I get there.
Given a recent thread we decided to set a few rules around PTF posted 60-130 runs lol
1) In case you were planning a trip to Greece any time between now and when you send your runs in for verification please postpone it if you can at all. Greece is much nicer to visit in summer anyways. Otherwise we'll need to have a nitrous air correction factor in your map that we'll need to calibrate through 5-6 pages of forum posts lol
2) In case you happen to have 2 or more verified yet extremely contraversial vbox runs on any platform in the past please let do let us know in advance.
Outside of that we should be good to go and start layin' it down
Just some follow-up here. Everything is done and zipped up. A few more fluid to top up and the slave to bleed once more and the car will be finished.
I ended up doing the Denso Pk20PR-P8 instead of the factory plugs on the recommendation of the performance shop I am using. I also asked around and these were the plug of choice...YMMV. I replaced the original coils as well. Fuel filter change, and new serpentine belt.
I had my coolant pipes pinned, and the sharkwerks coolant elbows installed. All of my coolant pipes were as good as new. None were loose and there was no coolant crust anywhere. My factory coolant elbows weren't brittle either. Serpentine belt looked new, and the factory plugs looked perfect as far as "plug reading" goes.
The 764 pressure plate and new disc went in without difficulty. Stock clutch looked about like new, and the OEM flywheel was in excellent shape. I'm surprised the clutch wasn't up to the task of holding a bit more than OEM power as good as it looked, but oh well. No evidence of slave or accumulator issues either.
The factory turbo inlet pipes are total crap. Huge upgrade with the do88.se silicone ones. The ID1000 injectors dropped right in with no fuss.
Should have the car back Monday or Tuesday barring any last minute, unforeseen issues. Can't wait...should be a beast on the awesome pump gas mapping that PTF has waiting for me, and a monster on E85
Quick pic with the engine just put back in the car. Nothing is hooked up yet:
Sweet! Your story on oem parts being practically new looking resembles one with our shop's 997.1 everything including the oem clutch that slipped looked absolutely pristine when it was pulled out.
We've started carrying the do88 997 upgraded intake pipes on our website as we've had a great experience with them so far with A3076s. They're a bargain for how much better they flow vs oem 997.1 pipes, how well they fit and what they cost.

I ordered a pair of the Inlet Duct/Pipes from you earlier today. I have my car up on my lift in my garage waiting for my 997.2/GT2 Intercoolers to arrive so I figured I could lower the motor a little and install these too while it is opened up back there ...
Looking forward to see what the difference is with these two items.
PTF was very helpful and friendly with my order. Will likely capture the process and maybe a DIY as I usually do....depending on how warm I can keep it in the garage and what the weather does
Thanks DC. We'll have them out to you asap. These inlet pipes but also and much more so the 997.2 oem intercoolers will be a solid upgrade over the OEM parts.
Just based on the logs, the 997.2/GT2 intercoolers are such a huge upgrade for so little cash relatively speaking, they should be the first upgrade after an exhaust.
