OEM .1 GT3RS/GT2 wheels with spacers?

Hey guys,

I have a set of OEM 2008 GT2 Wheels on the way which will go on my 997.1 Turbo. I know from the factory, Porsche uses 5mm spacers for the rear on the GT2.

My question is, has anyone run slightly more aggressive spacers with this set up?

What I am trying to figure out now is... is there a spacer set up that would be even better than the Porsche factory spec? As in, if I use say... 5mm in the front and 7mm in the rear, will I get an even more flush look with no detriments?

Has anyone tried this?

For reference, here is a 997.1 Turbo with OEM GT2 wheels. Same set up as me. Thanks!

What are the offsets on the wheels? Are you running 245/325 tires?

Hi! Here's from the GT3RS Product Info.

The new 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT3
run on one-piece 19-inch GT3
wheels featuring anti-theft
protection and wheel centre caps
with RS or GT3 logo. Despite
relatively large dimensions, the
wheels are extremely light
thanks to a specially devised alloy
construction. The resulting
reduction in unsprung mass offers
a significant improvement in both
driving dynamics and performance.
Another benefit of the wheel design
is its inherent strength and rigidity.
The wheels run flush with the
exterior of the car and come with
special sport tyres as standard.The
wheel dimensions are 8.5J x 19
with 235/35 ZR 19 tyres (front)
and 12J x 19 with 305/30 ZR 19
tyres (rear). The rear hubs are
fitted with 5-mm spacers creating
a wider track.

I'm 08 the gt2 ran 235/325 tires on 8.5&12" wheels. You should consider running 245/325.

What are the offsets on your gt2 wheels

Sorry typing from iphone

Looks like OEM gt2 wheels are as follows:

F 8.5x19 offset 53
R 12x19 offset 51

I think I was told to run 305 on the rear rather than 325, to not cause problems with the awd diff in the turbo?

Some fine gentlemen talking about 325 rear tires and the turbo awd diff here:

1. Either run 235/305 or 245/325
2. A 305 on 12" rim is not recommended by tire manufacturers, many have done it some say it looks stretched others say its fine. Plenty of debate on this but I tend to agree it looks stretched and again not recommended to go 305 on 12" wheel.
3. Spacers sizing also depends on your visual preference. 7mm with either tire size will be fine.

They must not have told Porsche then since both the 997.1 GT3 and GT3RS come with 305/30-19 as OEM.

Completely agree but most Porsche N-rated tire mfg's recommended a rim width range of 10.5-11.5 for a 305 tire.

Go with 305 on the 12" , you'll be very happy ! Perfect look.
Here is my car with 305 on GT2 wheels. No spacers.

For reference here a 305 Bridgestone on a 19x12 BBS. Not stretched at all. In fact looks much much better than 305 on 11" imo.
