So why exactly does a gt3 seem to hold value better than a 997 turbo?

Depends if that was a 14 or 15. 20% depreciation on a 3 or 4 year old car, most people can only dream about that! True, it isn't quite driving for free though. If you bought the car new though, that was living the dream!

There is a similar discussion currently taking place on Rennlist. Posters don't understand why I called my 11 TTS "boring". They should read the posts here and perhaps they would understand. IMO, 997 GT3's and 09 997.1 6MT coupe's are the way to go.

I didnt buy it new, it was used with 6k. I paid a bit more than MSRP, but it came with a CPO warranty and a $6k full wrap. Both of those added to the cost of the sticker of the car would have cost me more than I paid for it had I bought it new, so that was a wash.

I wanted that particular car and I knew it was going to cost me some down the road, but it was worth every penny. Best car I've ever owned to date.

I own both, I am simply trying to answer the OP's question based on my experience. That being said, I love the Porsche Turbo, it's easier to get in and drive thus a better dd, its faster than the Gt3, but the overall driving experience is not the same. This is the reason I feel the Gt3 holds its value better, the overall experience.

For all those who own the Turbo, imho, I believe the 997tt is undervalued at the moment and future appreciation of the mighty Turbo will surprise many people.
