going to purchase a 997 PDK
going to purchase a 997 PDK
Long time porsche owner. Current car is a 996 TT 6 speed, that I have owned for 13 years, k16/16g pss 10, LWF. Red w Black...... Love the car, but I am 65 years old and I am tempted by the performance of the pdk and launch control. I do not need the S version, as Protomotive or whomever will flash to S HP specs or more.
So gentleman, as I respect the members of our 6speed forum, what do you suggest?? my budget is 90-100K. Thanks for helping, Mike
Ps looking for years 2010-2013 and are some years better than others?

Your right. I only was thinking of 6 speed manual.
If i were to upgrade from my 07 to a 10+ i think i would be looking for the lowest milage newest one in my budget with...
1. Make sure it has sport chrono (would be rare not to but you need this)
2. I wouldnt want centerlock wheels personally. Much harder to take places to get wheels taken off or tires changed.
3. Not sure i would want ceramics due to possibility of having to change a rotor for big $$$
4. Lastly as a personal choice i would LOVE to find one with cooled seats because on a hot day they are a revolution.

For specific years the old saying is newer is better so my advice would be to seek out the newest best example of a 997 Turbo you can find and afford.
I tend to avoid 1st year models but as a used car one could be alright as the 1st year model issues have been addressed. Mostly. I recall with the 1st MY 996 Turbo there were some things lacking that could not be were not addressed, like the absence of a glove box (oh the humanity!) and the front bumper warts and later MY's received some additional chassis/tub stiffening that while it probably doesn't bring that much more to the table is considered a "plus" when searching for a 996 Turbo example.
But if you find a well cared for 2010 optioned like you want and at a price you like well, there you are.
Hey Mike,
Your budget is well within finding a 2011 Turbo S from what I am seeing on cars.com . I would get the Turbo S which has all the options and no need to flash the ECU for more power. Just my opinion.
