3 Bar map sensor - orientation is wrong, how to install?
Just another side note. My mechanic said today that he believes these "straight" TMAP sensors were only used on the 997.2 Turbos that were made in the last year (2012.) This would help explain why the issue happens so infrequently.
Absolutely! If I hadn't have read what he posted previously I wouldn't have had a clue what to do when the dealer said the part didn't fit.

Well any decent mechanic is able to extend the wires by splicing and soldering. I just don't like the idea of hacking up the factory wiring harness. To be able to find a patch loom like what you posted is just so much cleaner.
Currently, I don’t access to my vehicle or parts to provide a pic, but the 3–bar sensors I installed were exactly the same and fit the OEM placement. My vehicle is a 2012 turbo, but I recall reading some threads where some vehicles may have built with different map orientation, but it appears not your vehicle. You should keep the same orientation as the OEM and get the correct part that fits.
thanks mfawaz, mine has the same orientation bars as factory. I've worked this out, the difficult part is wriggling the intake sensor out, it needs to be done on an angle pushing it down so it clears the piping. Once I'd worked that out I was able to swap the sensor over in about 5 minutes.
Anybody have a pic or advice about the best way to install the 3bar MAP on the side where the air intake tube is so close to it??
The one in the middle on top will be a piece of cake, but the side one looks like I might not be able to get my big Mits in there, much less a tool to loosen it and swap it.
