i started the car to warm up and recharge as its not my dd after a bout 15 mins i look at lots of white smoke so i switch off....was catching a flight a hr later so had no time to look
so on my return i look and find coolant on the floor , i screwed off the oil drain plug on the sump for firstly coolant to come out then COFFEE

head gaskets is blown. time to open the motor up. this is a critical decision. choose your engine builder carefully.
since your pulling the heads off this is the time to decide how much build you want. now is the time for rods, new head studs, all new gaskets and seals. it can get very expensive very quickly, but your inside the motor do all you can

i would guess anything is possible. what you describe (white smoke, brown color on the oil cap and unexplained loss of coolant) are classic head gasket signs. your leaking coolant into the engine and then burning it off through combustion hence the white smoke.
if you blow a coolant line fitting then the coolant spills out under pressure onto the ground not into the engine internals.

Only way for water to seep into the engine is a blown head gasket. If your oil is brownish like coffee with cream, then I would avoid driving until its addressed
White smoke and sweet smell are tell tale signs

Thanks every one
My garage is going to pressure test the system this week I hope !
I guess I will have to see what's what after that ... Keep any other ideas coming all comments are helpful
Cheers

One remote possibility is the heat exchanger on the top of the engine. It is a box shaped device that has coolant and oil flowing through it. When I dropped my engine last year on my 997.1 tt we noticed that it was leaking coolant. It is possible for oil and coolant to mix there and is about the only place that can happen short of a head gasket. Hard to check without dropping or having one of those cameras on a flexible stick.

yes. I had been smelling coolant for a few years and finally had some puddles under the car. Decided to drop the engine and weld all the connections. Did clutch and Sharkwerk fittings where appropriate as well.

Ok.... How much coolant would you use per 1000miles/km ?
I had coolant loss for a a good year or so but with no evidence of it any where had it checked two or 3 times and no one could find it ..... I just kept topping it up !!
Any way it had been sitting for a month or two and I hadn't driven it so I just started it to recharge etc then that's when it happened as soon as it got up to temp it started smoking like hell..... Switched it off and like I said didn't have time to look as was catching a flight
A week later came back and checked things out .... Half empty coolant tank and some coolant on the floor .... I restarted it and as it got to normal running temp she starts smoking again ( no smoke until it was at normal temp ) switched off no over heating so shouldn't have damaged any thing inside ! I hope
Next day when I had time I unscrewed the sump nut to have a look at the oil and firstly got coolant then coffee coloured oil !!! So now it's at the garage and I'm waiting for them to pressure test to see if they see any thing .
Sorry I'm rambling on ... I will find out this week I hope

if there is oil and coolant coming together. either headgaskets are blown or maybe the heat exchanger rotted on top of the motor - very unlikely. motor need to come apart. bearings will get wiped out from coolant in oil.

Yes i agree, do not run the car because even though overheating is detrimental. Like prodigymb is saying, coolant will kill bearings even if operating temps are normal.

Hi every one .... It's been a long time as one garage kept my car for 8 weeks and then said they couldn't do the job so had it towed too another 😡
Well the looked and tell me it's a blown turbo ..... I'm not sure about this
If it's a blown turbo why do the two exhausts smoke ?
Could I have such a big loss of coolant from a turbo and then for it to let go and dump coolant in my engine ?
Thanks for your help
