How many labor hours for clutch replacement (997.1 Turbo)
How many labor hours for clutch replacement on a 997.1 Turbo? I'm getting some insane variations from different mechanic shops with the Porsche dealership being the cheapest by far!
Porsche of Hawaii quoted me $160/hr x 8-10 labor hours,
first indy shop quoted me $180/hr! x 16-18,
second quoted me $125/hr x 14

The dealer charged me around $1700. The dealer's labor rate was $150/hour at that time and the bulk of that $1700 was labor. Assuming it all was that's approx. 11 hours labor to drop the tranny and remove the clutch hardware, including the flywheel, then put the car back together again.
Might add that even though the clutch was fine, the disc had no measurable wear even at 120K+ miles, the tech did replace the needle bearings of the clutch control shaft. These get replaced every time the tranny is out even if the rest of the clutch hardware is fine.
My point in highlighting this is the tech told getting the bearings out and the new ones in is a "fiddly" job which adds to the time it takes to R&R the tranny.
Thus I think thePorsche of Hawaii quote of 8 to 10 labor hours is I think a realistic quote for your car's clutch job labor cost.

Theyre located in Los Angeles, CA. right next to the LAX airport, theyre the only guys that touch my car, all the mechanics there are top notch.

obviously being located on an island your limited to who can do the work. this drives the shop rate not the hrs to do the work. the second quote is likely with an engine drop which porsche manual says is needed. most dont do that so 8 hrs saved.
unless your able to get the car stateside your best bet would be the dealer and know you also have warrenty with the work. ( i cant believe i just suggested using a dealer!!!!!)
