So after some nasty wheel hop and desire to crisp up the handling I decided to add a couple suspension goodies. I already have GMG bars and springs, but the car is a mess (even before the power). having driven Turbos in the past I knew that I wasn't buying a car that handled well, but I wanted to work on the bump steer and of course put down power better while reducing wheel hop which breaks stuff.
I ended up with the whole SPL suspension kit, but decided to leave the lower control arms off for now and just replace the thrust bushings in fear of NVH. But having driven the car to work this morning, I probably should have just done the whole kit.. I am REALLY surprised how tame it actually is. I feel/hear sharp bumps more but barely any more NVH just cruising. Haven't had a chance to hustle the car around any corners, but I can already tell a huge different with the reduced bump steer and the less compliant suspension. Car is a lot more consistent even at average corner speeds. I probably should have spent more time on the front bump steer, but I was able to cut it in half and was tired or re-aligning.. was getting late and I was ready for a drink and some TV :-p
This SPL stuff went on awesome and the adjusters made a garage - alignment fast and easy. Will head to the track Nov4th for some 1/4 mi runs if they dont kick me out. Also ill report back once I have driven the car on the street more.
A friend of mine made the thrust bushings, as right now SPL only carries the whole assembly.
Next time the motor is out for an extended period I might pull all the suspension parts, sand blast and clear coat...
definitely looks like great quality parts and certainly going from rubber joints to metal will keep things stiffer. Im sure just the metal arms being different creates less flex when the suspension parts are being pushed.

Awesome...... I use bearing race installers for everything too
Update for today. holy ****, the car is so much more stable.. what a huge improvement in the way drives over bumps and in corners. I had a feeling that would be the case, but happy it is so
Pretty much any application of throttle or a bump would send all 4 tires in different directions.. at least that is what it felt like, heh.
Looks good... hope to see you on the 4th. I plan on being there. Looking for a 10.50 pass if I can hook. I got new wheels and tires, hopefully it'll make a difference. Do you think those suspension parts will help you drag racing? Any plans on doing the 1/2 mile event in November?
ya, I hope I can make this jalopy hook. I think it will help it hook, more so because it will stop any kind of wheel hop/chatter than anything else.
10.50 is no joke. I remember when 11.99 was fast!
Well I saw your car run a couple of months ago.., it's definitely fast! I hope to see you run a 9 sec pass this time. Glad your new parts made a difference.
