Break pad thickness

I have a 2012 997.2 Turbo with ceramic brakes. My brake pad wear alert popped up yesterday. Does anyone know how thick a new stock pad is in 1000's?
Thank you.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about how much pad material is left on the existing pads? You don't want to run worn PCCB pads too long for fear of damaging the rotors which are probably ok.

I'd say order the new pads and after they come in measure one or two to determine how thick the friction material is and write this down in say the owners manual.

But the most important thing is to replace the worn pads to protect and preserve the rotors. Afterwards treat the brakes to a fluid flush/bleed.

I agree. I think we're saying the same thing. I can measure the existing pads but need to know the stock new pad thickness to determine the amount of wear. Yes I could order a new set but if someone has the stock thickness dimension it would be easier.
I appreciate your comment.

If you trip the pad sensor it needs to be changed too ...

This might answer your questions:

This is for PCCB

Great!, Thank you. Question, can't you just clear the brake sensor code?

Not 100% on pccb's ... But on the steel brakes the actual sensor is destroyed (that is how it trips the alert) ...

I read this as 2mm thickness left on the pad is the limit. On the sensors, I measured my outside pads yesterday and all were at 9mm or greater thickness. Going to check the inside today. If they're in the same shape, it must be a bad sensor.

OK That makes sense but I did hear on the PCCb
you should change your pads at 50% or 6 mm

Hey Dave! I replied to your other thread regarding actual measured thickness.

I don't see how 2mm is possible because one of my PCCB pads was showing a copper rivet at ~4.5mm thickness. Also, at least for me, the outer and inner pads wore differently so definitely pull the pads out and verify both.

Thanks Johnny. I too think 2mm sounds a bit slim as a "change the pad's" tolerance. If the chart is saying 12mm new and change at 10mm, which is -2mm I'd be very confused. I have a CPO car that was inspected about 200 miles ago and the CPO says my brakes are at 80%. When I measured them, they were at 9mm or better on thickness. As previously mentioned, my "Brake pad wear" alert came on but, I see no way that at 9mm thickness, it's time to change the pads. Strange Porsche mystery here.

That definitely makes sense that the dealer is telling you 80% since you have 9mm of 11mm which would be about 80%. That being said, I was at 85% on my front pad at the top but only 35% at the bottom where the rivet was exposed...
