Dumb passenger window issue.

why....every time i roll my passenger side window up....it hits the top and then lowers itself back half way down...

also....it doesn't crack when the door is opened...thus having to slam the door closed and then re-open it and close it when i start the car again.

driver side is totally fine.

thoughts?

I believe you can reset it by putting window all the way down and then put it up holding the button for several seconds once it's up all the way. I'd take a look at the manual to make sre this is the correct procedure.

There is a window switch in the door latch mechanism can cause the window cracking problem. You have to install a new latch mechanism to replace it, as the switch is not available separately.

Correct, I had this issue with the drivers side.. new part covered by aftermarket warranty about 2 months ago.

Anything to make the passenger window go up all the way instead of like getting it half way up manually and then pressing again to close it automatically past that?

Its by design. I had the same "issue". I had a shop look at it; they could not find any mechanical issue. What they did find was a TSB that described a change to the passenger window to prevent the auto up from closing it if the window was less than half closed.

I was going through my manual, looking for unrelated issue and stumbled across them saying the passenger window only auto ups after half way.

^ Im sure its a safety feature so you dont have some yahoo that sticks his head out the window and then accidently pushes the window switch up just for a moment..

Its SO dumb as a feature if its that It makes zero sense, no other car does this. For safety they simply stop the window from going up if the force to move up is more than what's typically needed to close the window (e.g. someone's arm pushing it down).

A 987 Boxster? Was the top up or down? I wouldn't be surprised if the soft top position was an input to the logic circuit.. Maybe on a Cayman it works like a 997 Coupe.. I had a 987C Cayman and I can't recall how the passenger side worked..
