Morimoto 997 Headlights

Has anyone tested these? Looks like they will be available soon. I have never had a good experience with aftermarket lights. Does anyone have experience with Morimoto? Because these headlights look amazing, and by the marketing, they should preform amazing as well.

Just installed them and i think they look and work pretty good. I should have gotten the little LED bulbs for the blade turn signals too. I also got the MM sidemarkers.

The install was straight forward, but one of the lamps had a small rattle from a loose/broken piece related to the height adjustment screw. I'm gonna reach out to MM and see what they say.

One thing to note for Cdn cars is that since the main headlight runs standard as daytime running lights, the 4 small leds only (no main headlight) won't work as DRL. All 5 lights will be on with Cdn DRL. If you want the 4 LEDs only to run as DRL, I think Cdn DRL (main headlight) can be coded off with the PIWIS.

Beautiful. What do you think about the fit and finish compared to OEM?

Fit & finish is very good. Although the lamp with the rattle had a small piece of tape fluff that i had to shake out.

The light output appears higher than stock, but I've only driven in city so far.

Thanks for the information, Steve it's much appreciated.

The OEM units self-adjust their height every time the car is started. I'm assuming the aftermarket units do not have this feature? Can you comment on the headlight alignment on the aftermarket units?!

The MM lamp housings have the same vertical and horizontal adjustments as the oem lamps. My self-leveling function appears to work fine. My understanding is that the V & H adjustments set a baseline alignment and that the self-leveling sensor connected to the lower control arm sends a signal to the lamp tray. Angle changes should be tiny.

Bulb temp

Was wondering how the headlight bulb temperature matches the white leds on the bumper front turn signals.

Do the temps of the leds match well?

There are no white LED's in the turn signal, they are all yellow. However, there are incandescent bulbs at either end that can be changed to match.

I have the morimoto tail lights on my F355. They are very high quality and look amazing. I might try these on my 997!

My concern would be long term ownership and how they hold up.

Im considering these MM headlights for my new to me 2009 Gen 1.5 that Im hoping will be purchased and arrive this coming weekend, its a UK car, will the 4 DRL spot’s work ok for me?

What are the side markers from MM, to match these LED headlights, plug & play too?

I also plan to change the incandescent bulb in the front bumper indicators to LED ‘s to colour match the whiteness

I think those updates to the classic 997 look bring the best blend of old and new designs, like a 992 but old school curves etc.

Carl
