When I had my 05TTS coupe and test drove a Gallardo the first thing I noticed was that the Gallardo had no soul and did not exite me. It felt stale and lacked that whole driving thing.
Again, its a different car and thats that. If you want to show off get the Gallardo, if you want to drive, get the Porsche!!!
The 2006 Gallardo is significantly different than the 2004 and 2005...trust me I had a 2004 and a 2006... And I agree after driving the 997TT and owning 5 996 TT, including an 05 Turbo S, you're right they are different, the Gallardo is a sports car and the TT is a GT

You're probably right....But, I also like the exclusivity of the G, the sound, and the fact that it does not have to be modded to make it look/sound good...The TT needs to be lowered, exhaust, wheels, bigger spoilers, etc etc

lou,

pls see Pm, i am considering a G myself. as for your lack of zest for the 997 TT two words: heavy and ugly.. or at least not exotic looking... 2 other new owners have bailed from their cars upon driving them also

from your descriptions a lambo or a ferrari would best suit your needs

go out and buy one again ....

one thing though porsche's have never always been on the flairy side, they always been subtle... and at times easily camouflaged ..

Those new Lambos are the only cars I lust after more than the 997. As for the new TT, the car is incredible, but who OK'ed those wheels??? They look like a cheesy Momo design from the mid-90s. What happened to high-tech like hollow spokes, etc.?

That said, I would be more than thrilled to have a 997TT.

They were pulling your black 06 G in the showroom when I went with Shank to pick up his 06 G last week. Very evil looking car with the black rims, it looked like it ate babies.

IMO - Lambo > Porsche for attention.

I was #1 on the list at my dealer. Gave up my spot to someone who really wanted one. Had two 996TTs and they were boring, heavy cars that didn't hold their value. Have a Carrera S Cab and Stradale now and love them both. I'm just done with the heavy all-wheel drive thing.

Just to clarify, its not all about "look at me" I miss the Lambo becuase its more complete right out of the box....Loud, mean exhaust, lowered, dead on steering, handles better, more pure sports car... That is what I miss..The 997TT feels VERY soft in comparison to driving the G...Like i SAID, FEELS LIKE A GT CAR MORE AKIN TO AN M6 RATHER THAN A SPORTS CAR

Not surprised

After 1400 miles in my black 997tt, I'm thrilled with the car. It just keeps getting better every mile. The handling, steering and overall fluidity of the car on all roads is a (major) step above my previous 996tt's.

But I can imagine that if you owned and were happy with a Gallardo than you would be disappointed in the 997tt, for simply the first and last reason you listed. The 997tt doesn't bellow (sounds more like a Hoover) and it doesn't draw looks from everyone. Seeing that you own(ed) a Z8 and a Gallardo would make me think that you like a more extroverted ride - that is not the 997tt.

Disappointed in the car, hell no! Is it a GT or a sports car - well that's its beauty, it can be either. Sorry, but the car isn't the problem here.

Sad that people buy cars so that other people will notice them and hopefully become their fans. Rich and insecure. Weak sauce.

Seeing the Lambo's on the freeway or in town just doesn't do it for me. They look like kit cars (especially the angles of the rear).
