Anyone else slightly disappointed with 997TT

I have had people stopping me saying the car looks amazing, ...etc. To me, its not a car you go out in the middle of the night just for a drive. That's not what I use it for. I use it as a daily driver and it happens to be quicker and grips and brakes better than 99% fo the cars out there. In fact, it brakes better than anything I have ever driven. I actually turned down my Gallardo spyder after it finally arrived last week, because I drove it and it was frankly underwheming and slow. Exhaust was loud but not particularly pleasant. Ferrari V12's with Tubi sounds better. Actually my old 360 with Tubi sounds way better. In terms of speed, my E55 K1 feels faster. My Z06 was definitely faster.
Overall, I am very happy with my 997tt. Its not as exciting like a Ferrari 430 or Stradale, but then its not meant for that. Its a GT first and foremost, with a nice sound system, SAT radio (I got the Cayenne kit), very comfortable seats, etc, but has the performance of an exotic sports car. Those who need more noise and curb appeal need to look elsewhere.

My oppinion is that the 997 Turbo really lacks in all areas for a redesigned car. The exteriror of the car looks great (except front end) but it is not anything new. The interior in my oppinion is better suited in an Infiniti ( the lines are way too clean and conservative), the performance figures are completely weak compared to the competition for a high end sportscar and the car really has no "WOW" factor to it. If you are spending over $125,000 on a car you should want some recognition on the street by the public. Nobody wants 100's of eyes oogling over you car, but its nice when people notice you from the crowd. Same reason we wear the clothes that we do. Same reason we where the watches we do. Yes, we do it for ourselves but deep down we know that these items are going to catch peoples attention. Its human nature.
I was thoroughly checking the 997 turbo out at a dealer last week. Yes the car overall is nicer than a stock 996 turbo but the 997 lacks enough appeal for me and many people I know, for us to trade in our 996Turbos in for the new model.
Just my thoughts, no need to bash them.

Anyway i wouldnt have given up an 06 Gallardo for a 997TT, but that's me! Both cars are nuts though.
Tell you what....
Since we KNOW each other, I will trade you EVEN UP for my 2000 Miata. I know, I know, HOW could I consider such an uneven trade? Because you are my friend and I want you to be happy.
So whaddya say?

Lou go get the "G" back and ditch the 997 it is too passive and soft..your "G" was sick looking and no offense it has it looks wise over any P Car..even if its not an "M" only a "G". I was thinking WTF were you doing selling that so quick, you guys in Chicago have more time on your hands then us Miami nutcases...
must be those cold winters that get to your brains...you trade cars like I trade watches...

Here is my list of shortcomings
1) Exhaust...Are you kidding??? so quiet
2) Steering...feels way overboosted and light
3) Ride Height...way to high
4) Handling....not pinned to road like my G was
5) Looks....the car is invisible, nobody even looks...(now that is not why I buy a car, but, come on at $130k+ you'd like someone to notice)
All of the above were strong point of my Gallardo and I honestly wish I still had it....Anyone else??

Yes IllM3 I have my car and its sick. As far as the whole Gallardo thing is concerned, you CANNOT compare a Gallardo that costs over 185K to a 997TT that is about 130. There is quite a chunk of change between them.
On another note you gotta compare a 997Tt with a 04 Gallardo that is about 140K and is out of warranty. And IMO at that point I would take the Porsche any day.
The Gallardos that I drove were both an 04 and a 05 and I will say again that I felt the car was stale and BORING!! If it did not look like a spaceship I would think its an Audi!! Also, the outward visibility on the Gallardo was terrible and even after driving it for 15 minutes I still was not confident in the car.
Yes, I admitt, it has that whole exotic thing going on, but for that kind of money it better have..
The bottom line IMO is that I was there and have had 3 996TT and before I bought the 997Tt there was alot of other cars that were running through my mind. But when it came down to it and I was ready to buy a 140K used Gallardo I said to myself that I am NOT gonna be driving this thing around waiting for it to break. I want that new car warranty and if you are comparing a 06 Gallardo for 185 or 190K its just not fair.

agreed...the 996 and 997 are too similar IMO...if you want a P car you can save 60-70K and get the 996 and mod...i cant believe the thread starter traded a 06 G for a 997TT...06 G > 997TT IMO
I like the subtleness of the 997TT...I like to be stealth and a little under the radar....I was very uncomfortable when I had the Ferrari and EVERYONE STARES!!!! ...that's just not for me personally
No dissapointments here at all. The 997TT gets better with every mile. I love every refinement about it. And as many of you people aleady know, I have a few exotics to compare it to. I too like the Stealth, not in your face styling. Speed is utterly ridiculous, couple that with build quality & reliability and you've got a winner!
