Anyone else slightly disappointed with 997TT

This is correct, I agree, thank you.
I like to roll up to a mcdonalds or something and order comfortably. A lambo under my feet and I wouldnt feel to good about my combo meal. Plus I dont think an '06 lambo or ferrari is neccesarily original. Its rare because of its price. No big deal to me.

So go get the Gallardo back if you think thats the way to go. If you are that much concerned about what people think then thats the car for you. I WAS THERE ALSO!! I have had a Porsche from 01 and can easily afford the difference between the TT and a Gallardo. Just before I took Darios 997TT I was so close to either getting a used Gallardo or a Stradale.
But I am a neurotic nutjob and just hated the fact that a 06 Gallardo was over 185K(sticker 198K) and when I drove the car I was not that impressed. And as far as the Stradale goes; Yes, its hot as hell, but its out of warranty and alot slower than the Porsche and the repair bills that come with that car are insane!!
The bottom line is that yes, I would take an 06 Gallardo over the 997TT if they were the same price and I would have the Gallardo as a third(not second) car. In my case the Porsche is a second car for me and I pretty much take it everywhere. I admitt; The Gallardo has much more presence than a 997TT, but for the money it better have. But the fact that they are off in price about 60K makes it an unfair comparision.

Now, here we are, discussing whether the ne plus ultra of the 911 is "disappointing"... WOW. My only beef w/997TT is tiny: change the wheels.
A Gallardo is much more "exotic-looking" than a Porsche Turbo. B/C Porsche really hasn't changed the 911 much over the years and certainly not much from 996 to 997, people are used to seeing what they perceive as "just another Porsche". I'd venture to guess the average person couldn't tell a 993 from a 997 as to year or model. Most Porsches don't garner too much attention unless you live/travel to an area that doesn't see any or you have one like mine which is far from stealth due to color, wheels and mods. I can tell you from living in a place that has plenty of nice cars and going to car meets that my car garners as much attention as anything. As a general rule any Lambo or Ferrari has a higher to much higher attention-grabbing factor. As for performance, looks, ergonomics, etc. every driver/potential owner will feel differently and can speak with their checkbook.

A lot of people question why I traded the G in for a 997TT in the first place.......Well, I had already worked out the trade value with the dealer before I bought the car. He was giving me far more than the car was worth, so for that reason it had to go.....It cost me $5k to drive the car for 3.5 months...to me the best deal of all time!! The other reason was that I had owned 5 996 Turbos including a 05 Turbo S and loved the car so much I couldn't see how I'd be disappointed....What happened was that the G ruined me....I got into the 997 TT and it felt like a GT rather than a sports car..Anyway, that's my story....
Here was my Turbo S from last year...

1) HRE 547R wheels
2) Techart Suspension
3) Strosek Rear Wing
4) Strosek Front lip Spoiler
5) Side skirts painted body color
6) Cargraphic Super Sound Export Exhaust
Why would a sports car need all the above to make it complete?? Why doesn't Porsche lower it, make a decent exhaust, and differentiate it??
Lou
Why? Because it isn't trying to be Lambo or Ferrari and it doesn't cost 200 or better. As you said, the G may have spoiled you but since you haven't tested the waters in something like a Challenge Stradale, maybe that's your move. By your own admission you "loved" the Turbo S but still got rid of it. Then you "loved" the Gallardo and got rid of that. You, my friend are restless and have the disease bad. You are lucky enough to be in the position to have had some really nice cars but not really lucky enough to be able to own all you'd like at the same time (like most of us). Next time you fall in love resist the temptation to change for change sake (the $ reason on the G is only valid when you know you are getting rid of it, not if you were keeping it). I think you should go try a Ferrari and let us know.
