Anyone else slightly disappointed with 997TT
I'm not so sure about 5) point!
Come on...first time I saw it was simly stunning...no words to describe the beauty of the car...even if you don't mind about cars you'd say it great!

Again, its a different car and thats that. If you want to show off get the Gallardo, if you want to drive, get the Porsche!!!

Why ?
I have said it before and I will say it again. Why would anyone buy the new turbo when you can get a pristine used modded turbo, full aero effects, interior trims, coilovers, hybrid turbos, exhausts, and many, many, extras for 80 grand.
Interesting.
I got my 997tt about 4 weeks ago. So far, its great for me as a daily driver. I prefer not getting looks, although that has not been the case. I have been followed by many different cars not wanting to pass, including SL55's, 430's, M5's, M6's, and even an Enzo. I have had people stopping me saying the car looks amazing, ...etc. To me, its not a car you go out in the middle of the night just for a drive. That's not what I use it for. I use it as a daily driver and it happens to be quicker and grips and brakes better than 99% fo the cars out there. In fact, it brakes better than anything I have ever driven. I actually turned down my Gallardo spyder after it finally arrived last week, because I drove it and it was frankly underwheming and slow. Exhaust was loud but not particularly pleasant. Ferrari V12's with Tubi sounds better. Actually my old 360 with Tubi sounds way better. In terms of speed, my E55 K1 feels faster. My Z06 was definitely faster.
Overall, I am very happy with my 997tt. Its not as exciting like a Ferrari 430 or Stradale, but then its not meant for that. Its a GT first and foremost, with a nice sound system, SAT radio (I got the Cayenne kit), very comfortable seats, etc, but has the performance of an exotic sports car. Those who need more noise and curb appeal need to look elsewhere.

The 997TT is definitely hot, but in a different way than the G. You could drive the Turbo everyday. I don't think I'd want to do that in the G. The G is just so much more exotic looking. I wouldn't want to leave it in the local supermarket parking lot, but I wouldn't be as afraid to do so with the Turbo. The attention (from the looks, sound, etc.) the G gets is more suited for a fun weekend car, rather than a GT-type car in Chicago. You can make the 997TT a "sports car", but you can't make the Gallardo a "GT car".

Lou,
I think you should consider getting the G back or upgrading to something really thrilling like an F430 or a Stradale. I was honestly very surprised to see you sell the G for a 997TT. It doesn't sound like you're happy with the car and will probably dump it soon anyway. Just do it now and get the most $ you can for it. You'll thank me later

As per the point that was made several times about the G not needing any body mods, isn't the 997tt cheaper with the mods (clearly not the crazy mods that some of y'all are so famous for) than the G stock? Also, doesn't that then allow you to personalize the car to your liking?
Of course, I can't imagine the difference in cost would be all that dramatic to those with the means to purchase either, and in the end I just don't see a mod transforming the 997tt in to a looker like the G. That isn't to say that I don't think the 997tt is beautiful, I most certainly do, but I can't imagine one could produce what I have to assume the feeling of driving the G to be, by adding a body kit and rims to the Porsche.
What's craziest to me is that on my list of most wanted cars, The Cayman GTR (as seen in threads here and in Excellence) is higher than either. I can't put my finger on why, but that car sends me in to such a state of lust.
Damn.

I dont know what to say about the 997 that wont offend people.
My oppinion is that the 997 Turbo really lacks in all areas for a redesigned car. The exteriror of the car looks great (except front end) but it is not anything new. The interior in my oppinion is better suited in an Infiniti ( the lines are way too clean and conservative), the performance figures are completely weak compared to the competition for a high end sportscar and the car really has no "WOW" factor to it. If you are spending over $125,000 on a car you should want some recognition on the street by the public. Nobody wants 100's of eyes oogling over you car, but its nice when people notice you from the crowd. Same reason we wear the clothes that we do. Same reason we where the watches we do. Yes, we do it for ourselves but deep down we know that these items are going to catch peoples attention. Its human nature.
I was thoroughly checking the 997 turbo out at a dealer last week. Yes the car overall is nicer than a stock 996 turbo but the 997 lacks enough appeal for me and many people I know, for us to trade in our 996Turbos in for the new model.
Just my thoughts, no need to bash them.
