How Long Does It Take?
I bought an OEM Porsche short shift piece and now want to get it installed. Does this really take 3+ hours to get in?? At $125 and hour, the labor is going to cost more than the part!
Any Help?

Do the math.
Caveat: there are certain dealers who will work with you if you have a good relationship, and will consider doing it for a flat fee ($200?). Work the deal up front and see if the svc mgr is willing. If not, find a good indy.
Better idea: take a road trip to Imagine Auto. Well worth the time and fun I'm sure...plus you'll have one of the top experts do the work. Of course, in the end it will cost you THOUSANDS once you see all the great stuff IA can do to your turbo.

The first time around it may take a couple of hours but if an experienced mechanic does it 1 hour. A 2 hour quote would be acceptable but anything more is unacceptable. I had a hell of a time (on my 997S) getting the shifter off the stalk. Be carefull not to damage or scratch the leather when removing the center console. Once you get that off its a breeze (especially if you got the OEM part because unlike the B&M it comes completely assembled). Its just a matter of hooking up cables (take your time and do it right). If your not comfortable doing it then take it to your local dealer but 3 hours is BS. Do a search on any of the major Porsche sites and you should find step by step instructions with photos. Good luck you will love the short shifter and wonder why Porsche didn't use this as the standard one? $$$$$$$$$
