997 Turbo vs. Corvette ZO6...An angry tirade?
We've all seen enough of the Z06 eating up the 997 TT (stock) and I just wanted to put my two cents in about it. For all of us who are Porsche and TT fans, I'm sure many of us are annoyed when Vette owners or arm-chair critics put down the 911's offering little insight in what they usually say.
I totally agree that the Z06 is a great car at any price and is an incredible performer on the street and track. Stock, head to head, it's faster than the TT and almost any other exotic/supercar. However, the Vette (AKA "plastic fantastic") is what it is...a fast car with little modern technology, R&R and collectibility.
The thing is that after a few years when you see a Z06 or any modern Vette (not including, of course the vintage ones which are great!) on the road, they usually look like something that had been microwaved too long and seem to look dated. When new, with huge tires, wheels and body kits they look great and menacing but they truly do not age well.
An analogy I would use to describe the difference between the two cars would be to use Whiskey. You can buy a rather inexpensive whiskey and get drunk all the same, however, you might wake up with a nasty hangover with the cheaper stuff. You drink a nice, smooth blended or single malt and you get the same buzz only the next morning you wake up with little less of a headache. Both cars are powerful, handle excellent and have a racing heritage. However, one leaves you after several years with a fast sports car while the other offers resale value, colletibility and tons of character.
The TT represents more than 20 years of development, refinement (sometimes not), character (sometimes too much), and a lot of inspiration for other car makers and designers. That's something many people (including myself) neglect sometimes in the pursuit of power and speed.

The ZO6, 997TT, Viper and 430 are all special cars, each with their own special characteristics. Different engines (V8 7L NA, F6 3.6L TT, V10 8.2L NA, V8 4.3L NA), different layout (Front Engine, Rear Engine, Front Engine, Mid Engine), different #seats (2, 2, 4 well 3 3/4, 2) and so on. Each person has their own preference and budget, this doesn't make one better than the other. Just be happy with what you have, if not then change and get something you are happy with. I'm sure happy with my 997TT.
Hope this doesn't start another thread...guess I'm guilty too!!

Hell I am just glad we live in a time where we can pick from so many different performance cars that live up to expectations as we do today! We could always go back to the 70's!

Is that your longhood in your avitar? If it is please stop by the 911 section and post up some info and pictures of that bad boy.....ASAP!!!

Back on topic, although a beat'n horse of a topic it is.....
I dont think it was a lame 9th post, (who cares about someone's opinion that does not matter anyway) you gave an honest opinion and it was still on topic with this section. I wish all people could just be happy with what they have and just get along. I am happy in my circle of car freak friends, we all respect each other no matter if what car we own, lambo, ferrari, Porsche, zo6, radical, Ford GT, etc.
I don't understand why people refuse to admit or acknowledge that the ZO6 uses lots of great technology and materials, in some cases more than the Porsche.
If money were not an issue, I would buy a new GT3 or maybe a TT but for crying out loud, the Vette is a kick *** car no ifs ands or buts.
