Anybody put 6000k HID's in the fogs?

No, I haven't but I may look into it. I was more concerned about the fog and parking lights matching the headlights (in color). The stock bulbs were yellowish and the Hoen's were a simple solution.
I dont think everyone is getting the picture here. The question that I asked was if anyone has done an HID conversion on the fogs and used 6000k bulbs. No filament bulb can even come close to matching the color and intensity of an HID bulb. period. I wanst talking about the 6000k halogen bulbs that are meant to simulate the "HID" look.
so, has anyone done this?

I put HID bulbs on my M5 and that was easy to do because there was plenty of room inside the M5 bumper. I'm not even sure if it'd be possible to put HID fogs in the 997TT because the entire area under the bumper seems exposed and that would make the ballast vulnerable to water. As it is, the H3 bulbs are sealed.
Installed the HID fogs on ALPINE997 motor today and god are they bright.
Neil - no back alley donuts in my car alright?
They are also 6000K bulbs. While the car is up can you clean the undercarriage?

can you give details on the install and where you mounted the ballast?
Whatever you do make sure the kit of choice has a sealed ballast with waterproof connectors. You might need to modify the housing a bit to seal the fog housing off also best as possible. You dont want water splashing on that stuff to say the least.
Mounting the ballast would be tricky i would assume, so it does not shake or vibrate under spirited driving. A good tech 'how to' would be great...anyone? anyone?

It is installed behind the fender lining near plastic radiator housing (self tapping screws). The only water that really gets back there is moisture or if 1/2 of the car is submersed. Most ballasts are designed to take some splashing of water around it and it has some rubber boots around the connectors to take care of that. I hope
I will check it out tomorrow and see if can snap some pics and produce a how to.
He said it wasn't hard to do.

I am not as familiar with 996 cars but do you have HID(LITRONIC)?
H3 = Fogs
H11 = HighBeam
H7 = Low Beam(NON HID)
DS2 = HID Low Beam
Side Bulbs = H6(German Code) for 194 Bulb.
Is that what you are looking for?

I just put them in. When I get a chance to shoot some pictures(in a few day) I will post them up.
They look great and boy are they bright. Neil who installed them locally told me before I got there that it was bright. He wasn't kidding.
I replaced my HID with 6K and the fogs are 6K. The fogs since they have different glass is actually brighter but color is very close(white/purp/blue). Where the HID Lowbeams are Blue/Purple. But that could be because of burn in time difference. At angles the colors are exact and straight on the brightness of the fogs makes them appear whiter. The could be due to angle of aim as well since that wasn't adjusted on the fogs. You had two choices with the brand that I used in wattage output. I went the with the 35 Watt because the 50 Watt will definitely blind someone.

Hey Neil, I see you still logging into 6speed! You havent replied to any of my emails! I'm still waiting for our agreement!
Dammit, I wasn't planning to install HIDs in my fogs but I just may do that after seeing the pictures you're about to post, Alpine. Do you mind also posting pictures showing how the ballast units are mounted if possible?
