OK The $140K Question...
So in another thread I am considering a new 997 TT. With all the options in the car, it'll come out to about $140K. The dealer just informed me that an '07 997 GT3 would be available as well for $145K. I haven't driven either and wondering which car you would take? I don't care about the comfort or the power differentiation but what about fun factor? Can a GT3 deliver the same fun? A few friends of mine are convinced that the GT3 will retain its value better after a few years. But we all know she's still eclipsed by her older brother the RS. Your thoughts on this please?
i'd go turbo, but that's cause I am a power/mod junkie and nothing like spending 10K on mods and having a car that traps 129.
If you are keeping them stock, i'd go for a much less expensive gt3.

Working at a Porsche dealership and have tracked both of these cars, the GT3 is a lot more fun to drive... much more of a *raw* car. The Turbo is much more of an everyday driving car. Turn PASM off and you can have a cumfy cruser. IF it was up to me I would take the GT3 because of the fun factor. They made about 1500 GT3's for 2007 and only around 200 GT3s for 2008. Only 105 2008 GT3s will be imported. I think the GT3 will have a better resale value in the end because there were a LOT less of them made overall. As long as you dont mind replacing the front spoiler now and then I would say go for the GT3!

Be patient and buy a GT3 for less, do some research, you can find them in the low 100's (like 110-115), if you dont drive the wheels of it you can sell it in two years in the 80-90's. The turbo will be worht just about the same but coming down from 130-140k. 145k IS WAY TOO MUCH FOR A GT3, you're only padding dealers pockets with that money.
I have both a TT and a GT3. The GT3 does have a bit more feel, but compared to the TT the lack of midrange power is very frustrating. The GT3 needs to be worked hard to achieve the kind of slingshot speeds of the TT. Plus, the GT3/RS is at the limit - it won't get any faster whereas the sky's the limit for the TT. Mods for suspension, turbos, etc and the TT becomes a mini-Veyron. In the next 2 years there will be the V10 R8, and new Skyline, Blue Devil, etc that will definitely make the GT3/RS a slowpoke by comparison. The TT will be able to keep ahead thru mods.
