Radar Detectors

I have a 2007 997 Carrera S and I am looking at radar detectors for it before I get into trouble. My porsche dealer recommends a K2 where it is a stealth device that would be put into ont of the intake slots at the front. I dont like the thought of that it sounded better that one on the windshield which is illegal in some other states in New England.

Does anyone have any recommendations - especially if they have pics of devices mounted on their cars

thanks

1. the ipod nav TV unit sux....i had it, had it replaced 3 times, and they finally agreed to give me a refund. i now have a m0bridge and works awesome!!

2. check this thread out for the radar detector i started recently on the cayenne board....consensus is the v1 obviously...i ended up going w/the escort x50 b/c of aesthetic reasons and i liked the blue display:

Professional salesman, travel over 50,000 a year and THE only radar unit to me is Valentine 1. Works great, very durable, upgrade program and excellent service.

Keep in mind a radar detector WILL NOT keep you from getting tickets with instant on radar. You have to be smart, travel in packs.

I agree that the V1 is the best way to go. Question for you though...how often should I have my V1 software/program updated? I bought mine in spring of 2005 and have never gotten it updated...

If you go to their website, you can enter your serial number and they will tell you whether it has the latest update or not. I got mine in Dec 05 and the last time I checked it (a few months ago), I had the latest and greatest.

V1 blows, over rated hype... When i was doing 12v I had more **** retentive customers swap from V1 to K-40, and trust me, the first time anything would go wrong they would return it, Never had a problem with K40 at all... oh yeah I had to replace 12 V1 units with K-40's and i couldn't get a better price, so that was a problem
