the 997 will be a small evolution of the 996 in my opinion

Darren, I tend to agree with that, the 998 on the other hand I think is going to be a full blown change.

Exhaust

I have customers with 993’s and 996’s that have had at least 1 or 2 bumpers changed under warranty after they distorted / melted after a hot summer track weekend. And lately Porsche has refused a few claims saying the cars were tracked but couldn’t prove it. I see Porsche figured out how find out who takes their cars to the track. Put the exhaust through the bumper and all track cars will have melted bumpers. They won’t even have to hook up the PST2. I wonder how long before the rear bumper area near the exhaust on light colored cars starts to discolor, will that be part of the 4yr total warranty or just the shorter cosmetic warranty. I think I’m going to buy all the spare 997 bumpers that available the first 2 years. After I sell the last one I should be able to put down a deposit on a Carrera GT. Thank you Porsche

That exhaust placement is horrible as is that Gemballa-esque rear wing. Rice here we come.

I'm a bit relieved that our 996s will still look like the new generation 997s. I recall reading somewhere that the editor of the mag thought that the 996 would be the next "forgotten" 911. I feel better that they will still be similar.
