Preowned Price Checks

Anyone pick up a pre-owned 2005 997S launch car recently and, if so, what did you pay? I saw one on Autotrader with less that 7k miles priced at just under $70k. Is that a fair price? It seems a little high to me especially since the car is not CPO'd.

Umm I think you mean a 2005...as far as the pricing goes it seems a tad high. Maybe low 60k as the warranty is just about up.

Decent pricing estimates -- (after negotiation/vary with region)

"S" model coupes moderately equipped/ low miles
2005 - Low 60's
2006- Upper 60's
2007- Mid to upper 70's

Non S
2005- Mid 50's
2006- Low 60's
2007 - upper 60's

The dilema -- it's all very close to new car pricing.
Keep in mind what they ask and what they get can vary greatly with Porsches (even new ones except limited cars like tt and Gt3).

Good Luck. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the responses. They are very helpful. I did mean a 2005 (and have edited my post) - I just came back from vacation and am trying to get back in the swing.

I agree that a slightly used Porsche is very close to the base MSRP of a new Porsche. It's just that I have had a hard time finding a base Porsche.

It seems that the ones that I find are loaded with options that I don't really want. A Carrera S has a base price of $83,800, but it seems that all of the cars I look at are closer to $90K. I add GA sales tax, and it's $95K.

I'd really like to find a slightly used one in your price ranges that is owned by an individual (In GA, we pay no sales tax on cars purchased from individuals).

So, $55K-$68K is a good value to me over the new car at $95K.

The MSRP priice may look frightening but when you sit to write the check the car can be much less . My previous 90K MSRP 997S I paid 81.5 which was not that far from a 67K car with years and low miles .
Especially on acar at this level it's so important to have a reliable and pristine car . Unless I personally knew the owner I would be hesitant to buy used.

As for paying "55K" (or near that price) for a 95K car MSRP I would be very hesitant. The price may look good and the car may look shiny but high miles and wear and tear do add up and so do repairs . What you save on day one may come back as an expense down the road . A 55K car may end up costing 75K if out of warranty services start.

With my Turbo --discounts were harder and I only got 2k off but I have read others who paid 5K off on 6speed .

That 83K car may have some options too but even that car would sell in the upper 70's . Knock 5K off MSRP as an estimator because if dealership A wont sell it then another one will.

Owning a new Porsche with less than 100 miles offers a certain fun in itself worth that 12K difference .

Good luck.

Can you tell me where I can find an l clean car at prices anywhere close to these? Every car I've seen (except for one with a salvage title) has been nearly 10K more than the prices listed above and no one seems to be willing to move much on price.

If anyone has a clean, low mileage 997 coupe that they are looking to sell, please let me know.

I think the 65k for a launch car with PCCB is a fair price as long as no accident, super clean....
