Jay, I will ask if I can forward the name of the salesperson, I was under the impression that this was a special offer for me as I am north of the border and there aren't any dealers here in Vancouver.

I eagerly await the results, I will probably do the Plenum on my car this summer, I would be okay with 5hp and delighted with 10 – 12 and amazed at 20+.

Part of the reasons I buy these cars and subscribe to boards like this is passion about these cars! A good way to feed the passion is doing mods that “Talk to me”, it is simply part of the fun for me, I don’t care that about 0-60 times or even Track Times, I can’t drive like Walter Rhol and never will, but I do enjoy the occasional tweak, and discussing the Pros and Cons with others on various boards at the AutoX and even DEs.

As has been said before the single best investment you can make in enjoying and getting the most out these cars is to do a few AutoX events (nothing like getting you’re a… whipped by a 65 year old driving a striped out 914 to put it all in prospective) followed by some DEs. You will find the people friendly and very willing to share their experience and enthusiasm for the sport. All in all great fun!

Lets face it - its just easier on your conscious to "butt dyno" it and feel happy that you spent your money well, then to risk proving yourself wrong.

Ever hear the Mark Twain quote "Its better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt"? Its better to assume your money was well spent than to dyno it and remove all doubt.

What sad rationalizations for an unwillingness to get off your asses and take a risk. This thread has become a trainwreck. You guys are surprisingly conservative, as in boring. I will take comfort in the fact that whoever was really interested in trying the plenum mod has probably made up their minds by now. It would never occur to me to sit back and demand that others behave according to my preconceptions. Congratulations. I regret only having lost my sense of humor about the whole thing. Once RSS agreed to take it back if users were dissatisfied this whole thing became an exercise in trolling imo. Btw, 2 years and I'm still loving this car. Gerry

The part is $1k and RSS has stated they would give your money back in full if your not happy. With that said why not just try it out to see if you, like all the others feel the increase in power. You really have nothing to loose, if its not what you expected then return the item and get your $1K back???

But if there are none to negligable gains, then you are also losing a few hundred bucks for the dyno. If I could get it for the groupbuy price minus splitting the cost for the dyno, then I would get the plenum. And if less than a 5whp gain, I ask for a full refund...otherwise I will keep it.

i don't got a few hundred bucks lying around just to do tests. If i can feel the diff from my daily drive i am satisfy. If i couldn't feel the difference then i would question the part but i notice a difference and so have most of the others that bought this parts. Placebo or not .

Of course another good test would be to run with someone from a roll. I have a few friends that would be willing to do this to see if my 997 would indeed pull harder with the plenum. Makes me think...

Trust me once you install it you wont want to dyno. I dont know if i felt
10,20,30hp increase, but i did feel a significant power boost. Even if you do dyno the product and realize that you only gained 5-10hp that is still a bigger bang for the buck than any of the exhaust sytems out there. You could always pay the 16K to get the X51 which charges $533 for every hp gained.

"but i did feel a significant power boost" Thats because you lost low-end and gained some mid. It just feels different.

$150K in cars and not enough to try a part out?

Get with it, that's why modding is a hobby. Success and Failure is a part of the game.

+1

Nodding is a hobby, can't wait to use that one on my wife. I always thought of it as a illness, like gambling or alcoholism.

IPD Plenum 997S Dyno Run

Greetings Again 6 Speeders,

Here are some dyno charts of the plenums (before and after the plenum install). Instead of sounding like a broken record and beating a dead horse I will just say, if anyone is not completely satisfied with gains provided by the IPD plenum you can return it for a full refund. If you're in the Southern California area we will even back up the plenum satisfaction with free install and removal at our facility, Stuttgart Performance.

We sell the plenum to Porsche dealerships and even a good number of plenums back to the motherland in Deutchland. The IPD plenum is the absolute single best performance mod you can possibly install on any late model Porsche, Period!

Thanks to everyone for all the continued support and promotion of the IPD plenums.

I know this is the 997 section but the 3.6 liter motors are essentially the same.
