What options for CD changer for 997?

My car seems to be set up for CD changer (bose system with CDC buttons) but does not have a CD changer. Can I buy any decent disk changer and connect or does it really needs to be aporsche CD changer to work correctly? That said anyone selling one? Seen some sell on emay in the 300 range... thanks

Why not bag CD's altogether (dinosaur) and get our Dension unit for iPod integration instead? I'll make you a sweet deal, today.

Eric is right, with the Dension unit you can use a USB Flash drive loaded with music, an ipod, or any music player plugged into the aux pod on the unit. and play MP3's. With changer only audio CD's play on it. You can play MP3's in single CD slot.

I agree with the others. Forget a CD changer. It is cheaper to buy an iPod and Dension. Plus, I expect the Porsche CD changer, like Mercedes, has a proprietary arrangement so that other brands won't work with the PCM system.

It is actually cheaper to convert all your CD to MP3's via iTunes, then burn the MP3's to a CD (as many songs as you can get on it) and then play it in the single disk slot in the dash. Saying all that I have the Dension and it is nice to not deal with disc's at all.

makes sense but I still think the sound quality of a CD (wav file) is far better than that of mp3, whether it be on an ipod or burned to a disc.

you're not going to notice much sound difference of mp3 and audio Cd's in a car environment. The car isn't a true audiophile environment to notice any of degradation in sound quality.

Dinosaur here too.

The Bose itself is a dinosaur so no matter how one dresses up it's user function ease it isn't even as good as a logic 7 of a BMW 3 series --not to mention aftermarket sound.

The BOSE speakers Porsche has are about the best I heard so far in a car... being an audiophile myself... the real reason is that a human ear can't really tell the difference between a CD and 320kbps MP3's anymore since the codecs used to create them got so close to perfection.

We can argue about this for a while but I can let you hear both on an above average sound systems and you can try to tell me which is which
