WARNING: about the Plenum mod (title edited)

The RSS plenum makes you LOSE power!!

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...9&postcount=71

They never wanted to provide a dyno report, even after numerous requests... so someone else did it only to discover that those Plenums are worse than what Porsche did. This seems like a scam, especially since they claim power gain.

The reason I'm starting this new thread is to try to change their mind of trying to sell this on this website over and over again after so much commotion.

funny how they put this disclaimer just above the dyno graphs on their site:
*Images may not be exact representations

UPDATE: Gregg of RSS is organizing a Plenum Dyno Day in Southern California to put the Plenum to the test and prove their power gain claims. More details can be found here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129269

So, if the theory of the plenum does not work, why did AWE copy it on their 700 kits?https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=123196

They had dyno's posted since they started selling the product. They even went back to the dyno with a bone stock car days after AWE posted their results

Did you buy one and are unhappy...or did you just decide to trash the vendor based on incomplete information?

Few if any of the people who post this kind of opinion have any hands on experience w the product. I for one, am enjoying the way my car runs and sounds w plenum and headers. I had an opportunity to return it but, despite "empirical data" and hysteria decided that I was the best judge of what was going on w my car. I have no interest in rehashing this topic, but this origional post represents what can go wrong w message board communication. If I were a moderator I would remove it. Cheers, Gerry

Well the AWE testing was done by a third party, which would seem to be less biased than the manufacturers dyno. And it pretty clearly showed that on a non-forced induction motor there was little if any benefit, maybe some decrease in power. A forced induction motor is a different thing. So I agree with Dominique997SC that the sellers pushing this product are questionable.

And there have always been the questions on the pricing on what is a fairly simple casting. Many siad this was justified based on the research and development costs, but if it does not improve performance then those are worth zilch.

Dominique, before you judge our product without even trying it, we propose this to you. Since you are local to us, lets do a dyno test on your car at a independent dyno to insure a unbiased test.

IPD will arrange and pay for the dyno.

IPD will pay for your gas to get here and back from San Diego.

IPD will even buy you lunch.

IPD will give you a discount on the product after the dyno testing.

Let us know when you are available.
Thank you,
Greg

^Can't ask anymore from any vendor. I'd love to see unbiased dyno results.

I'm impressed with your proposal, this is the best way to handle it. But with what I know I don't feel like spending half a day at a dyno.

But... since I'm in business myself and want to play this fair, you can extend this offer to another forum member who has proven to be sceptical and has a fully stock 997 and I will personally post the results on this forum in a way everyone will know about it (no spamming of course), good or bad.

I'm sure someone will be glad to see their baby working the bench and since quite some people on this forum have been considering buying this product, this will help them decide, whatever the results are.
