si me dio!

y cuando mete la 5ta se empieza a ir!!!! y probamos hasta los 270 y me va adelante!!!!!
Porsche in general is getting it's *** kicked.
Have you seen the new cars coming out?
A freakin Pontiac G8 GT (381hp) for $29,995
http://www.pontiac.com/g8/index.jsp
A Mustang Shelby GT 500 (500hp) for $42,330
http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/models/
An Infiniti G37 (330hp) for $34,900
http://www.infiniti.com/g_coupe/standard_features.html
NOW compare these cars to:
Carrera Stock no options at all (325hp) $73,500
Carrera S Stock no options at all (355hp) $83,800
I understand they are far superior cars to the ones just mentioned. But you all must admit that Porsche is falling behind in the horsepower competiiton. It's not all about horsepower, trust me, I realize this. But horsepower equates to ***** and in addition to handling, I'd like to think my car had some ***** hitting the turns. And the argument regarding "ya but on the track, Porsche dominates" would probably be an ok come back if we did not spend 2-3 times the money compared to a Pontiac G8!!
Come on!! Especially on the Flag ship turbos! Once you start talking 120-150k for a sports car, you might as well slam on some options/mods from the factory that can get the car at least above 500hp??? Better with mods that can get 750hp!!! then **** ya, I would not think twice about buying the car for 175K!
Piddling in the sub-500hp range for sports cars >80k is pretty sad. I did it because it was not all about the power for me. But, my argument is more about Porsche keeping up with the industry. I still love Porsches and I will continue to be a loyal customer. What I expect in return is an effort on Porsches part to "show me the Horses!!!!" God knows we have all been "Showing them the Money" for many years!!!
Sorry, buy an M3? is not a 911 and it will never be.
Oh, all of the above ----->IMHO.

You could not give me a Corvette, I am somewhat smitten with its straight line performance and the fact it is alot of BANG for the BUCK but for crissakes its a CHEVY.

Same thing with a Ford GT or a Viper- So what if some pimply face kid driving one and can beat me 0-60- he will not score where it counts- with the LADIES and after all isn't this what this is all about anyways....

A Porsche looks much better cruising down PCH....THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!
first off not only is drag racing on streets dangerous, drag racing is also tiresome, banal and pointless. its a meaningless pissing contest. who cares how fast anyone can go from 0-60 in.
i personally find it quite interesting that the more BMW and mercedes et al pump up their horsepower figures, the more im left asking, what is all that power doing whenever i drive one.
to steal a line from a popular tv show, powering computers probably though the real truth is probably fighting physics
its seems that each month theres a new saloon or coupe out with ever increasing figures that force comparisons with sports cars and yet a short trip in one reveals that its clearly not all being used for forwards momentum. in many cases you simply cant use it all as the car cant get it physically down onto the road, other times it just seems to be there to offset the weight and sluggish nature of the vehicle its in.
im getting a sneaking suspicion that cars are going the way of PC processors. massive amounts of power has enabled engineers to get lazy with their work, or greedy with spec lists as they have plenty surplus to cover inefficiencies much as increasing processor sizes have simply created inefficient and bloated software.
porsche still seems to be immune from this atleast on the 911 line. theres power yes but only as much as they feel can be balanced. this was always their approach and led to cars that could deliver more than others with larger engines and power figures. you would loose a drag race but that was never the point. im glad its continuing though like many am aware of what this also means in the pub discussions. sadly it seems the increasing performance figures blurs the line for many between what is distinctly different categories of cars. a sports car is a sports car regardless of performance specs just as a saloon is a saloon no matter how fast it becomes.
one thing to remember about BMW, Mercedes and the myriad of other pumped up saloons, they may have the power of a race car but as soon as you come to a bend you are rapidly aware you arent in one. wallowing and alot of huff and puff combined with understeer and rapidly weakening brakes are the norm if you deviate from motorway use never mind the track. to expect any more is unfair however, they will take 4 adults 500 miles in comfort and ease and give great performance along the way when a race car would rattle your fillings loose and your would be passengers would be left to find alternative transport as they couldnt fit in.
i love the super saloons and coupes of today however one should be wary not to confuse them with sports cars. each is a machine created for a different purpose and as such each has abilities the other simply cannot. driving a 911 is nothing like driving an M3,M5, M6 and never will be no matter how firm the ride, how much power the engine has and indeed ultimately no matter how fast either can go and crucially neither it should be. theres jobs for the BMW and theres jobs for a 911 in the same way you wouldnt ask tom brady to take a field goal. the bmw Z4 M would be bmws true sports car, it would be this you would be looking at if you actually wanted a sports car and not a fast saloon and im sure most would agree the gulf between this and a 911 is rather significant.
theres nothing else in their ranges to compare directly until you get to the cayenne and the X5 imho

I promise you, drive the new M3 and you won't be asking "what is all that power doing." Not only is it brutally fast (as quick if not quicker than a 997S), it handles more neutrally as well. The 997 tends to understeer slightly on turn-in, which can shift to slight oversteer on corner exit. Turn in on the M3 is lightning fast, with no hint of understeer, and it continues this balance through the entire corner. Now the 997 is a more visceral experience given that it is lighter, lower to the ground, rear engine, has better steering feel, etc., but that doesn't mean the M3 won't be able to keep up through the corners.
And before anyone jumps on me for being biased, I own both.
