They're trashed. I would remove them from the car asap.

Looks like you're running on gravel vs. asphalt. Have not seen that before either. How many miles total and track vs street.

2005 with 11,600 miles, less than 1000 track miles....

3 sets of Brake pads in 11500 miles? And, only a 1000 track miles?

What was going on?

My guess is the pads caused the damage. Which pads were you using?

Definitely not normal, and probably not covered under warranty (3 sets of pads!!!)

The Gen II brakes can take a lot of abuse. Tell us more about your driving style and lap times

This is what happens to ceramic rotors when they fail.

oem pads, dealer told me these pads don't last as llong always changed at the dealer one set with one track day starting making a scraping noise so they gave me the replacment (3rd) free...

ps2's stock 997s sebring 2:34

will go to steel (brembo ) if not covered....going to regional to try to get covered...looks like some of the generation one failures....chunking etc...

Mike, wish me luck....

I recall reading issues with this years ago yet can't remember the facts or details. I had a launch car and sold it with 9K miles a year later . I faced no issues and loved the ceramics but others had pointed out the possibilities of problems . I faced none.

I feel you are going to face snags with this in terms of getting it covered on warranty but if it is a defect it ought to be .

If you fail after negotiating you have choices:
1) Replace with Porsche steel brakes
2) A Brembo brake
3) Don;t fix anything and work with the dealership at trading in that car rather than having both of you facing the hurdles of a warranty nightmare . They can absorb some of that cost into retaining you as a customer and placing you into a new car at a great price in order to keep you .
