Is This Normal Pccb Wear On 997s?

check those part numbers on your invoices and see if they gave you the wrong pads...there is no way a ceramic pad would fill the vent holes in your rotor or scratch the surface like that...Paying 1/2 is BS if they caused the problem by putting in the wrong pads...hold their feet to the fire on this one...I don't think you should have to pay 1/2 when you did nothing wrong...if you put some aftermarket pad (non-pccb) on then they are making a good offer....good luck...

Shouldn't cost you a dime if your dealer/service department created the problem by installing the wrong (non PCCB) pads. If they don't own up to this then your only recourse is to get hold of the PCNA Rep or get a lawyer.
VSE Chuck suggested to check the part numbers on the invoice. That might help. On the other hand the parts department or tech just might have pulled/installed the incorrect part(s) regardless of the invoice.
Bottom line . . . . If they don't resolve the matter to your satisfaction you've got to be assertive w/ them and use words like law suit, Better Business Bureau, PCNA complaint, etc. etc.

If they put the right pads on the car there is no way this should have happened. This is what these brakes were designed to do. If the dealership did install the wrong pads then i would hold them liable. If not, I would not settle for this half price deal. This is why I purchase these on my new one, because of all the hype Porsche puts behind them as the ulimate brake system. If this would happen to me I think I would have to drive my car right thru thier front door.

well , i thought of driving through but they are the only porsche dealer in this area and it was the regional guy that came by that rejected the claim..the local guy thinks they should be covered.....i am going to track a fair amt so steel in the end is more economical and for DE , probably not much of a difference in performance....i am looking at their large 350mm steel rotors set for the fronts....but you are right, sucks...suing them crossed my mind but not worth the time...

Why do I have the feeling that there's more to this story then what we're hearing.

normal wear according to my local service tech....he knew i tracked the car and that was it....no more to story... I have heard of others with trashed ceramics after tracking them in this forum and rennlist...i am not the only one...most do not know why while others last much longer..but i know of nothing that I did wrong...right pads, oem always serviced at the dealer with their inflated prices....others here know me at the track...no BS

Guys, I do track days at Sebring with MKK. He drives fast, safe and takes care of his car. This is a sad situation but I'd like to personally thank MKK for bringing this out on the forums for others to hear about and learn about the real truth behind PCCB's. Mike I owe you dinner or something for saving me a ton of $$$. See ya soon, Mike
Is MKK's car a 100% track car? If so than of course PCCB's are far too expensive in terms of maintenance compared to traditional brakes (eg. steel).
I have PCCB's and occasionally do some AX or track days. Nothing too aggressive. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year; no more than 100 miles or so in total. I see no signs of rotor or pad degradation as a result.

Could you please disclose which OEM brake pads were installed with the two replacements. If, indeed, the correct PCCB-compatible brake pads were used, then all of us with PCCBs have something to think about, and your offer from Porsche may be worth considering. However, if the pads were not the PCCB-compatible units, Porsche or/and your dealer should pay 100%, not 50%, of the fix.
Good luck!
Good luck!

btw after reading more on brakes, i was never taught to bed in the pads properly so perhaps that is a factor....

IMHO, a man who tracks his car should have enough sense to know when he's about to be bent over a stump and dry f#*$*d
Try a bit of shopping around first.
