I don't think any auto manufacturer will completely do away with manual tranny offers.

I believe they want to standardize options across the board.

However, resist it if you do not want it!

Ferrari developed theF1 for ther F1 cars. To amortize continued refinement costs every buyer of the F1 tranny is paying for that development!

I won't pay for that.

I don't see this as so unbelieveable.

Based upon the video of the PDK from the other thread, the current shift systems makes poor sense and maybe Porsche rushed to market.

I would bet Porsche will upgrade to paddle shifters in short order and then maybe retrofit earlier delivered models.

only took 'em 25 years for PDK - maybe paddles were missed along the way

Hope they are retrofittable, otherwise there's gonna be heck to pay with the early customers that have those non-intuitive dumb buttons.

I am looking forward to the PDK, I had a 6 speed porsche and then sold it and got a 360 F1 ferrari and LOVE it. Once you go PADDLE, you never go back.

HATE the thumb buttons

That's why it never pays to be first in line with new technologies!

Ask a few folks who bought the F1 in the 355's or the DuoSelect in the Maserati's!

What some do not realize either is that they are completely new engines. They did not just stick in the DFI but one of the big training points was that they are completely new engines with approximately the same displacement. My general manager just got back from Europe and drove the new PDK and went through the training on the new cars and said it feels like a completely different car... especially the AWD models with the PTM. Looking forward to seeing and driving the new models!!!
a little off topic however anyone know if there is a powerkit option for the series 2 997. We had a option in Australia just curious to see if ROW is getting this again. The current one we have takes it from 355Hp to 381HP. WOuld be nice to see how far we can go from 385HP in the new series 2 if this option is there. Pretty much the times you've got there are hitting GT3 territory with the PDK and Sport Chrono as is out of the box. NICE!!!

It really is inexcusable not to have paddles if this is supposed to be a transmission for a drivers car. I mean the paddle concept has only been mainstream for what, at least five years now. Left is downshift and right is upshift (none of that forward/backward crap for each paddle so it goes up and down either). It really isn't that hard Porsche. On the other hand most tiptronic owners seem to be happy with their slushboxes so what the hell do I know anyway. I'll keep buying stick thanks.

Hello everyone. Does anyone know if it is possible to equip a Gen 1 997 coupe with the PDK transmission. Or can you lead me to someone/web site that may have information ? Thanks
