Question here, is this normal.....?
that the rear end of the car has a "thud" sound when going over bumps and rough road? It does so more than the front when going over a speed bump or a pot hole. I figured it was because of the weight at the back. I also notice that when I drive on stretches of highway that have a concrete surface instead of asphalt that the cabin is particularly noisy (I assume from tire noise). I have brand new PS2's on the car, but the road noise in the rear seems pretty loud. I had PZero's before the PS2's and they had a similar noise. Just curious if others experience road noise to this extent.
I have the same issue with road noise and a thud. I think the road noise is normal as Porsche purposely reduces insulation to keep the weight down.
When I first put PS2's on I thought it was quieter than with the worn out Pirelli's but as they wear it is about the same. The advantage of the ps2's over the Pirelli's is little or no flat spotting.
But I think my thud may be coming from the front, it is hard to tell though.

I haven't noticed this in my 06 C2S, I just changed from PZero's to PS2's. I will try and listen for this, but I changed the suspension so maybe it is a suspension issue.
Hey Rod, how are you?
Still selling your car, or have you come to your senses?

I have the Damptronics also, but the noise was there before I swapped my suspension. I just feel that there is not as much "sound proofing" material about the cabin like was stated above. It's just funny how my C2S has more road noise than my truck which has 35" all terrain tires

To bad about the gearbox, that is usually expensive to fix. I guess you won't be out on Saturday.
yea, the box isnt too bad to fix... just the resource allocation that has to be worked out.
and this has to happen NOW when the weather is good....
Yes, re: '08. Road noise, esp. on certain kinds of roads, is really loud. Typically, if you're going over 50mph, you start noticing it.
