997 PCM wanted..
997 PCM wanted..
just wondering if any of you guys are planning on removing your PCM or already did remove your PCM for an aftermarket NAV solution. if so, im looking for a PCM (non-bose) 997.642.141.xx
thanks...
thanks...
That would be like mine
But sorry Fern, I'm not planning on selling soon.
That's too bad it didn't all work out, man. I've been reading your posts on the installation and issues. I can't believe Porsche has all these compatability issues. Any way you could find a bose amp (or any amp for that matter) and just make it work?
If the new 2009 touch screen nav is retro-fittable (crossing fingers but seriously doubt it), then I'd sell mine to you. Of course, I think you'd go this route too then and wouldn't need mine.

yes i have access to a bose amp, but the problem is the bose connector which connects to the speakers. all the sellers with bose amps were selling them without the connector.. go figure
after market amps wont work with the bose most configuration. im sure porsche/bose made there pcms to only communitate correctly with another porsche/bose amp.as for the 2009 touch screen, from what i gather from porsche the prices are more then our standard PCM. once my dealer can get his hands on one, i'll look into that direction.
hopefully see you on EuroSunday
yup yup... i just recently sold a Bose PCM which wouldnt work with my current non-bose amp
now im looking for a non-Bose PCM

Hey, my dealer has one right now in the box waiting for me since my current PCM (non-Bose) ate the CD and won't give it back. Meanwhile, I mostly listen to satellite radio and have a changer in the trunk that works fine.
PM or call me to discuss options.

As for the Bose/Speaker --have you considered Aftermarket ? Like Reus ?
I never liked the Bose and feel it's overpriced inferior sound yet I did not buy a Porsche for the stereo . If I did change it -It would never be a Bose .

my car came with CDR24 and i replaced it with the PCM (bose). it was actually fairly simple. takes less then 5min to remove the PCM and swap it out. no rattles at all as the PCM and CDR24 are identical in fitment with the exact placement for bolts and fasteners. i just sold the PCM (bose) because i realized porsche could not reporgram it to work in analog mode (ASK).
im actually just looking for the oem nav (non-bose) thats why i wanted the PCM. yes, i know i can get a much superior aftermarket headunit which not only has NAV but BT and iPod access. but i just want to keep it plain and simple
perhaps a Mobridge in the future. im not planning on adding bose speakers. if i every change the speakers and amp i'll most likely go with some Focals and a simple 5way amp.

it doesn't matter if it is bose or not, it is all about the coding and configuration... the bose amp is fiber optic input on the 08 997 ( I am assuming this is the vehicle in question) and i have removed at least the PCM and CDR in that vehicle... never under 5 minutes though... which makes me wonder if we are talking about the same vehicle...plus no screws hold the PCM/CDR in
Anyways I have a PCM handy
