Hi guys. I currently have a Tiptronic steering wheel with no multifunction. I want to convert my current Tiptronic wheel into a multifunction Tiptronic wheel using this:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/997MFSWX.html

I plan to use Joycon and use the multifunction buttons to control a Nexus 7 tablet that I will use as my navigation/audio system. My question is: where can I find a wiring diagram so that, in the attached pictures, I can identify each wire by color and what it does. Thanks!

Hi All,

I just swapped a 997.1 MFC wheel for an XPA Sport wheel, which went OK except that now I've got an airbag light! I also had to swap the airbag for the round sport version which I bought new from Suncoast.

I'm wondering if the issue is that I re-used the harness and control unit from the MFC wheel? I just left the MFC connectors unhooked, obviously, and taped them out of the way. AFAIK I connected the airbag properly and those connectors appear identical on the triangle airbag and round airbag.

Any ideas? Thanks!

If you turned on the ignition at any time while the airbag was disconnected, the airbag light will come on and will have to be re-set with PIWIS. I've never had any trouble swapping wheels/bags as long as the ignition was left off until everything was re-connected.

Thanks! Yep I think that is my situation. I drove the car around the block with no airbag to ensure the wheel was on straight. Then I disconnected the battery and waited again, and installed the airbag.

It is definitely not a physical connection/disconnection issue as I just popped-out the airbag again (with power off, again) and all connections look as expected.

So, instead of going to the dealer for this I may bite the bullet and get Durametric as I know it will come in handy down the road.

I think its a thing with the airbag systems that that if the airbag controller gets power (ignition) and some part of the airbag system isn't found by the controller (bag or its light in the dash) then it locks in an error condition that keeps the light lit until its cleared. Not sure but I'd expect a PIWIS certainly but also a durametric of any type would be able to clear the fault.

Does anyone know the part number for the metal plate that's on the bottom of the round airbag? My airbag came without the plate.

Plate is not a separate part, ordered a new airbag. Thank you Ryan at Suncoast for looking this up!

i recently swapped macan turbo s steering on my 987.2 cayman PDK. paddle shifter works, but not the multifunction buttons. at night, those buttons don't even lid up.

i got the macan steering used, and it shows it has the controller and since it has the control and buttons i'm sure the harness is correct. i'm thinking if it might be just the wiring on the plug. does anyone have the wiring of the macan? where can i obtain this?

thanks,

Hey guys resurrecting an old thread, it says on this thread that the torque setting for the steering wheel centre bolt is 37 lb/ft, and the torque settings for the airbag module is 7.5 lb/ft,

Can anyone else confirm this?

37 lb/ft sound correct for center bolt, had it marked but couldn't find the picture when did mine, if use loc-tite use the blue stuff and dont go crazy on it.

Not sure about the airbag module, I didn't had to mess with it.

Can someone tell me if this is a 997.1, 997.2, or 991 airbag? I haven't seen anyone retrofit a 991 wheel/airbag to a 997.
I have a 997.1 with MF wheel that I'm looking to change to a round sport wheel. Can I just get this airbag and a 997.2 wheel? Will the 997.1 trim surround piece work with this airbag? Will my MF module fit behind a sport wheel airbag?

Thanks

I've recently retrofitted the 991 paddle steering wheel onto my 997.1 turbo with the upgraded control module. We downloaded the information from the old steering wheel control module onto the new one and activated the pdk function through piwis but the paddles still don't work.

Does anyone have the exact method through piwis to activate the paddles?

Any help would be appreciated.
