What are you doing lugging the engine around at 1400rpm?

the manual says NOT to lug the engine and 1400rpm is WAY to low.

I have a 997S with PDK too and I keep it at around 2200-3000 rpm cruising around. I do a lot of acell and decell in the same gear, run it up to 5k and let it fall down to 3krpm. I do not run it around at the same rpm for the 1st 1000 miles.

You should drive a similar car and compare - that way you'll be able to find if there's something wrong with your car. And... keep us posted.

How am I lugging the engine? I leave it on auto mode and while I accelerate lightly, every time the gear changes it goes down and starts at around 1300- 1400 and gives a loose screw sound. I have taken the car to have it checked out and they told me to drive the car for 2 weeks and bring it back if it doesnt go away. The tech guy told me it might just be a heat shield vibrating or something. However this is a brand new car and I am just not mentally relaxed. Not sure what to do.

Its part of the tranny. The Nissans do it , the Porsche will do it and the BMW's will do it. It shouldn't be too loud but it will be there. Some people will pick up on it more than others.

Personally I would begin to work on the engine now to train it I do not follow the school of break in with Porsche because the motor has been run and tested before it is installed. It is pre-broken in. I waited for about 350/400 miles and then I let it rip. The motor is very strong.

The LC is pretty cool. Nissan GT-R fans take note.. Porsche lets you know how to launch it They acknowledge this.. 6500rpm and off you go!!

That makes me feel a bit better. I have 950 kms on the car and have already used the launch control. It is just unreal. Press the sport plus button, keep it in auto. Left foot on brake fairly hard, right foot all the way down till it depresses the button. Then let go. The first second is not that fast, almost feels like the power is adjusting to the clutch and slowly letting go then after about a second it just hits you hard. Hehe, what a great feeling.
