3M Bra Questions
3M Bra Questions
My two year old 997S that I purchased used has a 3M bra that I assume came from the dealer. After several years the bra is peeling up slightly at the edges and dirt has started to build up under the edges.
Anybody else experienced this? Will a certified 3M installer be able to fix it/tweak it or do I need to have it re-installed?

The only clear bra product that comes from the factory are the pieces between the doors and the rear wheel arches. Any bra isn't factory.
Without seeing the extent of the peel and dirt buildup it's very difficult to give you good advice. My suggestion is to find a good clear bra installer in your neck of the woods and have him/her check it out.

Maybe the dealer will fix it, but I really doubt it. There is really nothing you can do in this case except trim off the edges that have lifted or replace the film. Usually when film does that its because the installer did not heat and seal the edges down. The only other reason that could cause this is using a high pressure washer directly on the edges of the film.
If you know who the installer is I would go to them directly. The dealership will probably direct you to them or deny any responsibility. I install for a few dealerships around my area and usually leave the customer my card so they can contact me directly if there are any issues or questions. Dealerships want to wash their hands of it after they make their cut.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Does anyone know if you can put a clear bra on after the car already has small nicks. My car is a 2001. I bought it used and it now has about 41k miles on it. The hood already has small nicks. Do you need a flawless paint to put the clear bra on?
I am sure there is no contraindication to putting the film on over small imperfections. It is just advisable to re-spray any area that may have chips / nics because they will show through the film. I would also thin there is the possibility for bubbles to be trapped since the surface is not perfectly smooth.
