My car came with the front and back already installed from the factory, Option XAA. Been pondering on the idea of putting a stock lid on the back to get the look. Though I must tell you that it is in big bold warning letters on the Porsche instruction of installing it to have both.

Did you have the nose vent retrofitted? I have been considering doing this on my Aero 997S...

The only difference between the two is this little extension that goes on the RS. It is a complete bolt on, no modifications needed. The kit comes with all the hardware you need and everything works perfectly.

GT3 RS Spoiler Extension - $249.95

Nope.. because the thing that the stock 997 comes with is not a wing, it is a spoiler. A spoiler just spoils the airflow over the top of the car to break up the wing effect that happens with the car at high speeds such that the car will tend to lift. A spoiler prevents this.

A wing, which is what is on the rear, allows air-flow above and below and is an actual wing, but upside down from an aircraft, and produces downforce rather than a spoiler, which just prevents lift.

Great thread. Thank you for the ideas. I am currently looking at buying a 2009 997S4. I like the look of the GT3 front and rear spoiler but for everyday I like the more subtle 997TT rear spoiler. So, can you do the GT3 front bumper and the more subtle turbo rear wing? Do you think that would give enough balance? Anyone know if you can change add the turbo rear spoiler to a non-turbo 997 and how much?

Thanks

Yes you can. Be ready to spend upwards of $10K+. Check Mickfluff's thread. He did one. Beautiful and very balanced IMO.

You could also consider the RUF spoiler which is similar to the TT, but always in the "Raised" position. Costs less but still expensive @ $7K+

Just saw the post from GMP about the TechArt 997.2 aero kit. I really like it. The rear wing is sublte and not to big. Depending on price, that may be the way to go.

Hehehe, actually, that's the same wing for the 997.1. You can check the price right now.

I did the GT3 front and went with a non GT3 wing. A LOT of people love the look of the GT3 front, but I think for most people the stock GT3 wing is too big. It's an acquired taste.

For those of you who don't think you could pull off a big wing, just go with a different aftermarket one this way you still have a well balanced car, but won't feel self conscious about your rear.

P.S.- if anyone needs a good referral for a body shop in Atlanta, PM me-- I love mine...

I agree with ATL-Porsche. The GT3 wing may be well designed and very functional, but to me it's quite tall and big. Just not subtle and balanced compared to the front.

My idea of a balanced wing would be that of the 997TT, or perhaps a GT3 base spoiler w/o the wing. I'm waiting for a customed Misha wing that is pretty much a GT3 base spoiler w/o the wing. We'll see how it turns out.
