Price Collapse
I bought my C2S 6 months ago with 8k miles and got a screaming deal around $60.
Now it looks like the same car is $5-8K less
When I was looking there were probably 10 C2S's on the market, now there are probably 50-100!!!
But I have had a blast with my car in the last 6 months!

You are ahead of the game. You would have needed a car anyway and your C2S depeciated less than most other 60K cars from 6 months back .You have reason to celebrate .
VMM --your car new in 07 would have cost 100K . To get it CPO at 67 is an amazing deal . So is Mobonic's . Keep in mind when he was buying the car the entire market and economy was very different than now.
I think most of us (myself included) can split hairs over the extra 2K that we spent . For instance I got 2K off MSRP on my Turbo BUT no one had them . I had to drive an hour to get it ( and was lucky they even had one) and I would have liked to get 5K off . Now one can get 10K off even more on a Turbo . This is unheard of in the past.
The key thing with your car as well as Mobonics is that you both took the time to really check the car out . When you finally find "the one " and its sitting right in front you it's easy to relate to NOT walking away.

Had I kept my car stock I could have bought your car too , plus your mods , plus taken a trip to Europe. I would still be behind .
As we speak my car is getting this -I will never say I am done . https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...rformance.html
Hard car to find because Lapis is a special ordered color . It's beautiful color too but rare.
You said it. Feeling fortunate that I was able to purchase this car during this economy. I wasn't going to bargain down any further because I knew that this was the car I wanted. I heard some economists today speculating that we haven't even hit the halfway point with this recession. Since the average recession usually lasts about 1 to 1.5 years, this is going to be a doozy since we are already 1 year and three months into this one. Makes you wonder where the price points will go and whether or not car companies will delay the introduction of new models or just send more to Asia and the Middle East. I never really got the mod bug with M3 even though the forums are filled with people who do all kinds of aftermarket stuff. I heard enough complaints the BMW was intolerant of any modification. I was pleased to hear the most Porsche dealers will not ding you on warranty issues if the mods are done right. The money I saved will go to my 529s. Hey maybe a little saved on the side for mods.

VMM -
What we have now is a situation where great cars are sitting on lots around the country with not enough buyers and it will not last for long . If Porsche reduces production and consumer confidence is restored even used car price may climb . I have seen this happen with Porsches .
The big question is if collectively as a forum we can nail down a price good enough to satisfy both the buyer and seller it would answer many of these thread questions on price .
Instead of buyers running from dealership to dealership maybe one dealership will step up to volume selling . Everyone wins .
Most buyers just look in their area .
There's a lot of people who want these cars . There's a lot of cars on lots .
This is the time to buy . We all agree .
So now all that's needed is good price points and where ???

Second hand (GT1 block) 997 Turbos are bargain of the century right now! 997.2 Turbo will have a 'consumer' grade engine and will be EXTREMELY risky to modify. 1st generation PDK in a Turbo with 700Nm torque will be problematic also I suspect. 997.1 Turbo is bulletproof up to 1000bhp. Get them whilst they're hot!
PS: I don't plan on ever getting rid of mine unless they outlaw petrol and all cars go electric.
[quote=Alex_997TT;2250314]The only screaming would be when a Turbo screams past you in your C2S like you are standing still
Didn't say the C2S was faster, but I sure like it better. The reason you love your turbo so much is the mods you've done to it to make it the car Porsche should have made in the first place. The 997.2 is just much more fun than my unmodded turbo was. Don't miss it at all. Shame you have to pour $25K into a car that already costs you upwards of 135K just to get it right.

My old 997.1 C2S Cab was half the car my stock Turbo was - before I added goodies! Which is good because it cost twice as much as I got back on my old Carrera...
I haven't driven a 997.2 PDK C2S yet so I will take your word for it that it is now on a par with the 997.1 Turbo. Other than the PDK gearbox I don't see how it can improved that much though.

Considering the great improvement that the 997.2 C2S is over the 997.1 C2S, I'm guessing that the 997.2 turbo with PDK will be a shockingly competent car - as far as its "modability" - maybe you won't need to - to be seen.
The handling, steering feel , instantaneous engine response and "tossability" of my 997.2 is just so much better than that of the turbo - that's where the fun comes in. Of course my turbo was faster and quicker, but in the C2S I'm faster than 98% of the cars on the road whereas in the turbo I was faster than 99%. For all the aforementioned advantages, I prefer the C2S.

Each to their own I guess Alan. I guess it always boils down to what you are looking for in car. Me I am addicted to G-forces out of corners, you seem prefer G-forces through corners.
I am guessing in your old 997 Turbo you didn't have ceramic brakes, LSD, or a 'fast-road' geometry realignment - these greatly enhance the 'tossability' of any Turbo without affecting Porsche warranties.
With regards to the forth coming 997.2 Turbo, it may be more competent than the stock 997.1 version but I wouldn't want an early engine or an early PDK gearbox with 700Nm torque on tap. We only get a 2 year warranty here in the UK, so I would be VERY nervous about keeping even an unmodified 997.2 Turbo longer than this. Just look what's been happening to the GT-R double clutch gearboxes recently and that has a lot less torque than a 997.1 Turbo...

Here's $9k off a new 2009 C2s, without even asking:

Maybe there's another $5k off just for asking.
