I heard that it was easy to steal the 996 units, but thought it was improved for the 997? Is there an aftermarket for used stolen 997 lamps?

Sorry to hear... the 997 headlights are too easy to remove. Porsche's engineering prowess is also its downfall in this case. All a would-be thief has to do is pry open the hood and insert the headlight removal tool (which is *conveniently* in the trunk) and the headlights just pop out. I changed a headlight bulb recently and it took all of 5 minutes.

sorry to hear. I think they are around $600 per unit. Did you get any body damage?

I talked to Erin from Suncoast Porsche, $2400 for both units, left and right.

1+...

This was such a huge problem with the 996 headlights; i'm shocked Porsche has not learned from previous mistakes with the ease of removing headlights.

If they want your headlamps I bet they have their own tools - I think it's just a 5mm socket anyway.
