Driver seat shifting a little (loose?)

The drivers seat seems loose or shifty at times when driving and braking, cornerning or accelerating. I searched through the archives, seems like this might be common on passenger seats but no info on driver seat.

Does this happen to anyone else? Just a slight shift from time to time...

Thank you in advance.

The seat is held in place by four bolts, I doubt that one of them has come loose. I would check this out with the dealer.

I am gonna check it myself, maybe today if i put my summer wheels on. I would rather not make a trip to the dealer for this...

So nobody else has this problem? It seemed to be a common problem on passenger seats according to some posts...

Mine does the same thing. Every once in awhile. I haven't bothered to take it to the dealer though so don't know what it is. If it gets annoying enough I suppose I will. I'm much more annoyed by the occasional but absolute refusal to go into first gear.

I feel you for the first gear. sometimes, people honk at me... When it happens, I just slap it in 2nd and then back to 1st and it works. It is still annoying and still takes time though. Let me know if you do do the seat, I dont like dealer trips... I will take a look at it myself in a few days, will report back if I see anythings loose...

Something to consider...
The BMW Z3 has a known problem with fast wear of a rubber bushing used in the seat adjustment mechanism (the bushing rides the screw on power seats). The fix is some non-rubber bushings which a kind fellow has undertaken to produce and sell at a nominal price, plus a bit of effort doing the work. Search BMW forums for this Z3 issue if you want to know more. IIRC the temp fix involved installing a penny in the appropriate spot on the seat tracks.
I have no idea what the issue (if any) might be with the Porsche seats as I have not experienced it on my car. But perhaps the BMW experience suggests a few places to look.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am going to wait till the weather gets a little warmer here and I am going to take a better look in the sunlight with the top down to see if I can determine the source of the "shifting"...

I checked the four bolts that hold the seat down and they are tight. I have no idea what is causing the shift and I really dont want to go to the dealer.

Any ideas?
Does anyone know what that spring like thing with the tightening nut do? There are two under the seat, would that tighten the movement maybe?

Any help is appreciated, I can't be the only one with this problem.

if the bolts down below are tight, then maybe the bolts holding the seat to the rail are loose.. these would be much harder to get to.. are you still under warranty? thatd be best bet to just go to dealer and let them fret over it.

i have the same problem. The problem is that it doesn't seem to "shift" all the time so the dealer claims to not be able to fix it. I noticed that my seat cushion has a little play in it and perhaps this is the culprit?? It's not a big deal to me, at least not now so I'll wait until the next dealer service.

I think that is similar to my problem. I don't like dealer trips... But mine does it almost all the time on braking or acceleration..,..

I have the same thing, and I only got my car a month ago. However, unlike what you describe as all the time on braking or acceleration, I feel/hear my driver side seat shift only at infrequent times.

In a month of driving, I'd say maybe 5-6 times. Couple times as I was getting out of the seat, and the rest when accelerating or braking.

I feel going to the dealer for service is sometimes a cure one problem, get new one trade so for now I'm just going to sit tight and see if it becomes more problematic.

It happens to me all the time. Its just a slight movement of the seat back on acceleration or on stopping. Never took it to the dealer since I figured theyd tell me its nothing. But it is really annoying. Please let us know what you come up with.

I changed the position of the lower part, raised the front to maximum and it seems to do it much less.

I will keep you guys informed If I discover anything else...
