Installed fabspeed cold intake....check engine light is on!?!?!
The thing sounds great, especially above 4000 RPMs, also looks killer! Don't know about any gains, but I like it.
I'm old, I'm often confused by a lot of the threads and posts and "claimed" garages on 6Speed, so please help me out. Yesterday when you started this thread you said, or at least strongly intimated, that you personally installed the intake; now today some tech at some dealer installed it. If so, why would you rather than the tech be talking to Fabspeed? Are we talking 2 different cars?

I have the Evo Intake and the sound is awesome, especially if you combine it with the AWE high flow cats.

with any oiled filter you need to be careful after installing one. driving too high in the rpm will suck too much air and cause oil from the filter to foul up the MAF sensor. as hard as it may sound, the best thing to do is drive conservative for the first little while so the filter coats up with debris. at this point you probably need to just replace the MAF sensor and all will be good.
Always willing to add free advice, I will mention that it seems rather odd that two cars, receiving an equivalent mod installed by the same person, have the same failure mode. Since this mod has been installed numerous times w/o such a frequent CEL issue, it's likely not the mod. So though I would generally agree with your 'oil on the MAF' hypothesis', I just wonder whether Occam's Razor answer points to the installer. Not criticizing the person per se, but a repeatable error might have yielded the repeated error. Before replacing the MAF, a few photos and a call over to Fabspeed describing the install might be the next step.

I personally talked to this guy and he told me that they installed the intake himself. After going over the complete install with him I asked him if they hooked up the vacuum solenoid, and he said no it was still attached to the factory airbox.
This intake will not produce any CEL's. There are plenty of guys that have them installed on the car with no issues.

I installed the Fabspeed Cold Intake on my '09 C4S about a week ago, the check engine light keeps popping up. I spoke with a tech from Fabspeed, he walked me throught the install, according to them everything is installed correctly. I remember the video on their site saying, "NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS." Just wondering if anyone else did this and has the same problem. Thanks.
I'm with you CMOS!
The thread seems to apply to the 2009 second generation 997. Does it alos apply to the 997 first generation/ Are there problems with the light and mass air sensor for that car with the Fab speed cold air kit?
Question: there was a hose that connects to that open nipple on the same connectio that that vacuum line connects. There used to be a black hose that goes from that nipple to the old intake. It appears you have removed that hose completely. In my system, I have the hose attached to the nipple and the other end of the hose open and tied down to other wires out of the way. Can I remove the hose completely similar to your picture?
