Only because no other thread has been active...I have resorting to posting in the Audi and VW sections. I have also been looking in the BMW section, but I log out so no one sees my name as a viewer

Yes, all that AND it's a great example of how the lack of clarity and courtesy can cause FUD on behalf of one of our sponsors. Now seeing entries like 'is this going to cause a CEL on my car?' is a clear case of unintended consequences. I suspect that most of us believe that this mod minimally 'does no harm', and in fact adds sound, appearance and (modest) power gains. But now it looks like the manufacturer is guilty until proven innocent.

So though I would generally agree with your 'oil on the MAF' hypothesis', I just wonder whether Occam's Razor answer points to the installer. Not criticizing the person per se, but a repeatable error might have yielded the repeated error. Before replacing the MAF, a few photos and a call over to Fabspeed describing the install might be the next step.
I took it to the shop few days ago to have my buddy hook up to the pc. We got some kind of air flow at idle error, so he decided to replace the MAF, and reset the the light. The light popped up again, with the same air flow at idle error. He thinks maybe the new MAF might have been bad as well, so told me to just drive it over the weekend and bring it back in on Monday. He will test it for a few days and see if he can solve the problem, if not I'll simply put the stock box back in.

Wait a minute...now you are saying the CEL is coming on due to a bad MAF...so this afterall has nothing to do with the Fabspeed CAI????

I don't think he's saying that. I think he saying he doesn't know yet. But he's getting CEI with two different MAFs, which is alot of MAFs.

Yes, and no...the CAI is doing what it's supposed to, but my buddy thinks the filters may have been oiled too much causing the first MAF to go bad, like others have said. But after installing the second MAF, we're still getting the same problem (air flow at idle). I'm gonna drop it off with him this week so he can run some tests on it for a few days, I'll find out more later this week. The car runs great, just hate seeing the CEL.

kiet420, have you but the stock air box back on to see if the 2nd MAF is bad? Does the CEL go away when the stock air box is back on?

Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone else did this and has the same problem. Thanks.
I have installed the Fabspeed cold air intake and BMC filter on my 2007 997 3.6 without incident and it took probably 15 minutes total. I found it easier to remove air box with-OUT removing MAF sensor. I did notice improve revs, breathing and slight power. For what its worth I have since done the Fabspeed MAX flow mufflers and also bought the Muffler bypass pipes from Fabspeed. All in the car performance SUBSTANTIALLY better, with improved power and torque (although with muffler bypass in you do notice a slight decrease in low end torque) and the engine sings freely through the gears. I have also just ordered (yesterday) the Fabspeed headers for the 997. I've had nothing but great results with their products. If anyone needs any tips or advice on installing these items, let me know as I did it on my own so you can learn from my mistakes!

Thanks for the help but we are talking about the CAI for the 2009 car...much different than the 2005-08

Hi there im planning on installing the fabspeed - competition air intake and also the maxflo mufflers. Is there any decrease in low end torque from the mufflers? really dont want to lose the accelerating power of stock :O

From your post, I cannot tell what state you live in. I can tell you that I have installed Fabspeed mufflers and cats and that they have been deemed 'illegal' in the state of CA by CARB (the state air quality folks) because they do not come with stickers certifying that they are CARB compliant and Fabspeed has not been helpful at all in providing info on their site, or in prior conversations, to help me.
So, good parts, bad support. I now have to remove all of the parts due to lack of support.
If I am incorrect in any of this, and there is a well-known fix for all of these issues, please let me know.
