Newbie Shopping
When I traded in my Porsches I learned fast that once the car crosses 10K miles it takes ahuge hit in depreciation. Part of it is psychological but also routine wear parts are costly . New tires , new brakes .. add up plus when the car hits 50K miles and loses warranty a breakdown can be expensive .
I look at cars with 10K miles or less because why buy a high mile car if low ones are available ? It's very different when an original owner praises his high mile car than when a used car shopper has no idea of the car's history on a used car lot.
Deep down I feel that a new car may cost more but if one is going to spend money there is peace of mind being the first owner . Everyones finances are different but to me 65K is close enough to 80K . and that opens a lot of doors . I just can't se saving 15 grand when one is going in deep unless he is so confident that everything about the car is clear ,
Used cars --you only get one chance to get it right and that's BEFORE you drive it away.
Got the dealer to pull the DME report:
range1: 3073
range2: 219
range3: 11
range4: 0
range5: 0
range6: 0
I know it's not as clean as Joe's report, but does this sound acceptable for a 18K miles car?

Three thousand range 1 ? Ouch.
You really love this car .
Why not just buy a stock car and do the conversion plus wheels you can upgrade anywhere /anytime.
If you lived near me I'd even sell my Turbo wheels that you love so much real cheap but I refuse to ship them --too much of a headache . I dislike them and took them off with less than 200 miles on the car .
Why are so fixed on that car ?
It's not the only 997S .

Yeah this car is still on the list, doesn't mean it's my only option. Just wanted to get my ducks in the row when it's time to make a decision.
I like:
CPO (4 more years of warranty)
color
option
stock aero kit
overall ext/int condition
Con:
high milage
higher than average price
I really think the extra warranty of CPO is worth it. But I do agree with you on millage. If I find a lower millage CPO sample for similar price I will drop this car from my list in a heart beat. It's just that I have not found one yet, and budget has been capped at this price by mrs CFO. My negotiation skills is as good as my Greek (none), so some of the alternatives you've recommended just won't work.

I looked at california cars confined search only to meteor or silver. Chrome wheels must be a style because i found another meteor in AZ . I find them absolutely deplorable and out of my 3000 + posts I feel it's the only option I have ever really shown zero tolerance on . But it's not my car and you like them . Nothing looked good in meteor in your region so I searched silver .. still wasn't happy . The prices are high even on stock cars and anything that looked good didn't look great.
It bothered me enough to look in my region to compare . It's like a totally different planet over here . Modded cars everywhere . I found several with Gt3 conversions . I even found a midnight blue , with turbo wheels , evoms intake , Tubi exhaust (approx 4 grand polished exhaust) in the low 60's with 16K mi.
The best I found in your region where those three 08 leftover cars .. the 2 C4S cars and that one c2S Gt silver -- they are new --priced higher --but new is new. You'll never worry about the car's history with a new car and sadly that's all I liked in your region at this time .

I share your feeling about chrome wheels, just not as extreme. If the dealer wouldn't change them, I can always get them replaced later. I know there is a market for chrome wheels, since I see a lot of them on the road. So it shouldn't be a problem to get rid of them.
How difficult is it to retrofit an aerokit? Beside the painting part, does installation require drilling holes onto the body panels?

As luck would have it, I ran into a new 08 silver C2S which I got a decent deal on, so I made the jump and have my first P-car in my garage. She is a dream come true.
Special thanks to Larry for answering all my newbie (probably repetitive) questions. I owe you a beer next time you're in SoCal buddy!

Congratulations!!!!
I have owned 3 911's. First was meteor, second was arctic silver, most recent (just bought) was arctic silver.
With low risk of stirring up controversy on this board, I can say that you have bought the easiest to maintain color available. Doesn't show scratches, doesn't show defects, doesn't show dirt. I think you will love owning this color.
And it is also a positive when it come time to sell...
Downside...whenever you see that guy who actually takes the time to make black perfect, you will say damn...that looks good...
