Hey guys,

I checked out 2 997s's today and was wondering what would be a fair offer for this car.

I tried out a 05 from a private seller and then a CPO'd at the dealership. The 06 seemed a little tighter although the interior wasn't pristine (shift **** and leather on the wheel were scratched up, previous owner must have worn a ring).

Here are the specs on it. The 06 had 15,800 miles on her.

BSEMDL BASE Porsche Base Model 81,400.00
BDYCLR A1 Black .00
TOPCLR A1 Black Top .00
INTERI AT Black Full Leather 3,365.00
OPTION P15 Power Seat Package 1,550.00
OPTION 342 Heated Front Seats 480.00
OPTION 446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest 185.00
OPTION 640 Sport Chrono Package Plus 920.00
OPTION 666 Module for Telephone PCM 960.00
OPTION 670 Navigation for PCM 2,070.00
OPTION 680 Bose High End Sound Package 1,390.00
OPTION M6A Black Mats - Porsche lettering 115.00
Total Options 92,435.00
Total Charges 795.00
Total Order.. 93,230.00

They're asking a little under 65k for it....Edmunds.com values a CPO'd one w/ those miles and options for 61k...what do you think would be a good offer?

Thanks!

I'm beginning to learn both the regions and the cars -helping you guys find these cars.

My opinion -That car is overpriced . The problem is that the region does not have much to offer in your price range compared to east coast --particularly the northeast or Florida . Why pay 61 for an 06 when you can get an 08 ranging from mid 60's to low 70's (depending on options or miles) .

You have many choices . More importantly you are not happy with the interior and my opinion is don't settle on any car that you don't love.

That 06 is worth mid 50's . They will let you walk .

Thanks yrralis. Yep, that's the problem over here around Northern CA, not many options in my price range. I haven't seen many 05's available and my budget would probably top out at an 06 at around 60k.

What financing places do you guys on the board use? Porsche is offering mid 5's for people w/ excellent credit on CPO's.

There's a black 08 in Los Angeles with under 5K miles which might be worth a peek .

You have to look around. I spent over 3 months looking for my car to find the right deal. I am one of the most impatient people on the planet, very willing most of the time to impulse buy. I think that if you take your time, you will find what you are looking for.

Try re-running the numbers using KBB (should be less than Edmunds). When I bought my car a few weeks ago (from Northern California), KBB pricing was more reflective of what I actually payed.

I'm feeling impulsive as well after driving 2 yesterday, I need to let the enthusiasm die down and be patient. Thanks for the leveled advice skizot.

JoeShark, I ran the #s against KBB and it came out to be $53k. What dealership did you buy from? The one I looked at was at Sonnen.

I saw the car on auto trader Moto and BTW some forum members have been very pleased buying cars there . That one is simply priced too high and the reason why is because the region doesn't have much to compete .

The best used car in that region is my friends white Turbo that he traded in at Niello.

All these cars sound higher than you want to spend . Even the 60's sounds hiugher but for that price you can get an 08 in LA .

If you want a pristine car in the 50's you are going to have to travel . It may be worth it .

I bought my car from a private party. The price I paid was a bit under the KBB private party pricing.

motorsport3: I was in the same exact shoe two weeks ago. Test drove an $120K 07 C2S with upgrades up the wazoos, fell in love and almost bought it. BTW the selling price for that $120K car was $65K, and being dropped $2K almost on weekly basis. When the dealer wouldn't come down even $1000 in price, I walked off the lot. Thinking back that actually gave me time to cool off and spend time researching. Let me just tell you this, the prices you see on Autotraders may NOT be the selling price. I was offered a great deal on a minimally upgraded 08, MUCH lower than advertised price, so I drove 2 hours to check it out. While at the dealer I realized black is not the color for me. While it's a great color for the Carrera, keeping it shiny will be a chore. So I opted to go with the Arctic silver.

That black car is still a great deal if it's the color you want, 08 C2S with less than 5000 miles, similar price as that 06 you're looking at. PM me and I can give you details on it.

Thanks Larry and Joe for all the help. I hate the whole car buying experience, so I almost want to just buy it and go enjoy driving it. I am glad Larry talked me out of that meteor grey one. She was a beauty but pales to compare to younger girl.

Couple more photos of my baby.

Looks real good steph280. Especially w/ the Carrera Sports...those are the wheels I would want.

I just got a response from Sonnen on the black C2S's DME scan.

Range 1: 4930 603.1 h
Range 2: 973 603.1 h
Range 3: 177 531.9 h
Range 4: 5 531.9 h
Range 5: --- -----
Range 6: --- -----

Operating hrs 603.8

Not that great from what I surmised from the other threads with anything in range 4 and above. Is that correct?

Yeah 4,5,6 is bad. That DME alone is a good indication this car is a bad deal.

I thought So Cal market was difficult, looks like choices up there is even worse.

BTW I also got a private sale offer through this forum when I was shopping. The car is in your area, and was going to be my second choice. Got photos if you are interested.

I agree w/ you the market here is worse than So Cal. At least in LA there are a lot more Porsches roaming around so there must be a healthy second hand market going on down there as evidenced by the 07s and 08s in the mid 60s.
