Help C4s vs Cs
I need some help and advice please. I was about to purchase a 06 997s when an 06
997 4s became available. Both have 13k and are the same price of 54k. I realize the C4s is a better buy when going by the books. What I would like to know is what experience have C4 drivers had with their cars. I know the C4 is about 100lbs more and bigger tires and brakes. Also about .1 slower to 60 than a regular S and 1 mile per gallon worse on fuel mileage. Is this a small price to pay for the better handling? I will track the car about 4 weekends a year. Thanks for your input. This site is great!

I was in the same situation, but better. The C4s was the better deal with full leather interior. It was overall the "more" optioned car. I do feel a difference between the C2S and C4S. It's hard to describe in words. You'll just have to drive both. But in general, the C2 with feel lighter on its front end and the C4 steering will feel a little more "numb"... but in these 997s its hard to even call it "numb". As far as speed and acceleration goes, I can't tell a difference one way or another. Maybe on a track you'll notice the differences, but on the street it doesn't make a difference at all. The one advantage you'll definitely get is the slightly noticeable wider rear end. That's one aspect most all 6 speeders won't argue about. I haven't heard anyone on these forums say... "I prefer the looks of the narrow body". But there's always a first. Good luck with your decision.
If you are going to track it regularly, go C2S.
If not, then go C4S, sounds like a great deal.
BTW the brakes on the C4S are the same as the C2S. The non S have smaller brakes on both C2 and C4.

Didn't somebody post something about an answer to this question a few days back? Something about a top race car driver saying that given the two cars, he could probably get the 2S to be quicker by the narrowest of margins on one or two laps, BUT over many laps, he would be quicker and more confident with the AWD? I'll have to find that post.
I chose the C4S because that's the car I found that was the best deal even though I was looking for a C2S. After having my C4S, gotta say:
LOVE THE FAT ****!!!

Here's the quote I was looking for:
"Hurley Haywood:
"It maintains it's performance over a longer period of time. On a race track, the Carrera 2 would be faster for one or two laps. But over a five lap period, the Carrera 4 would be quicker because it manages it's tires better and allows you to lay down power through all four wheels."

A lot of us have been faced with this aweful decision
I love the look of the Turbo and C4S but then again I am an aaasss man.
Do you think that you are going to drive the car to such limits that the 100lbs extra on the C4S is going to going to keep you from crossing the "finish line" 2/10 of a second faster? Will the less weight in the front help you navigate around potholes better when your not on the track...this is what went through my mind when I was looking.
If you are going to really track it I guess most would just say "S". but for the other 360 days of the year...I would want the 4S and the PHAT AS

C4S vs C2S
The C4S has better all weather capability especially if in the rain and snow. It should drive better on the track, too. Looks better with the wider ars. Downside would be a little slower 0-60. But you should not feel the difference. And the trunk would be smaller. IMO go for the C4S.
Tough choice --both are great cars . I would drive them both and pick the better maintained of the two . I hapen to like the light weight of the C2S and the 911 road feel of the 2WD . I love the look of the 4S .
The strange part for me is that since I tend to buy my cars new --every time I bought a 911 I either opted for the 2S and if the wide AWD was going to be "the one" then the 4s was high enough to opt for the Turbo .
This is not the case with used cars though and that makes the decision even tougher .
