Calling Eric / Bumperplugs or other co.

The 997 bumper requires drilling holes to mount the front license plate. It would be nice if somebody sold a product that adhered the plate somehow without requiring holes. Kind of the "inverse" of bumperplugs

I am worried that double stick tape or something like that would pull the paint off. It would have to be something that would not harm the paint and may require a different plate bracket to do it. Maybe something that is secured inside the center opening.

get a sticker printed that has your license plate numbers on it.

they may be able to adhere with static cling, or a mild adhesive that won't ruin your paint.

I remember reading in the 997 product information document that the 997 front license plate bracket is attached to the bumper without any holes in the bumper. Could it be your dealer is trying to use the 996 bracket?

The front bracket on the 997 comes with a little plastic bag and 4 screws. most dealers don't mount them.

Interesting.........yep, 996s have been pre-drilled/punched at the factory (at least NA market).
If 997s are not.....great move by Porsche......only thing is, get to the dlr before they drill.

All Porches since 1989 have had a factory punch, 6mm x 7mm appearing square, with nylon inserts/anchors, and rubber block mounts.

The beauty of this system is it keeps the plate off the bumper so there is no scratching, and removal is easy. Of course, with our BumperPlugs in place, you have the best of both worlds.

The 997 series is not punched, but left to a lame back lot employee to drill out. Ask your dealer not to drill, or at least be ready to go with a set of plugs. Our plugs will fit all 1/4" holes perfectly.

Don't sweat it man. Happy to help either way.

Oh yeah, and sorry so late on the reply. Today was moving day! Yipppeee....new global headquarters.

Wow. What a day.

We have moved officially into new global headquarters. Things will be up and running Monday, so if anyone ordered or called today, there is a slight delay.

But our new digs will allow us more space for finished inventory, more items and hopefully faster turnaround as time goes on. Thanks for your patience.

Please note new address and phone (although the voice mail system is screwy at the moment). And yes, any similarity between our phone/fax numbers and something in Porsche's history is completely blatant.

Are the 997 rear plate mountings also drilled at the dealership?
