Jersey -
I have not one bit of doubt on this -- I would rather buy an 09 C2S PDK cab hands down Vs an 08 C4S Cab Tip .

The C2s cab with PDK is the ideal car for So cal . It will outdrive that C4S Cab Tiptronic in every category and have all the most updated equipment from its engine , to its transmission , to its interior technology . It is the better car by a HUGE margin .

Larry, you have been more than helpful thanks! I'd PM you back but I cant yet.

I have already been offered 90K on a MSRP 112K 09 C2S Cab if I forego the 1.9% PFS financing and pay cash or bring in 3rd party financing.

The choice offered by some (not all dealerships) is 1.9% or take another 10K off the car.

Most dealerships are +/-10% off MSRP so with the extra 10K we are at 90K for an 02 C2S Cab PDK @ 112K MSRP equipped as I want.

My color choice is actually meteor/black, but the white/cocoa is quite stunning I think.

I am going to ponder what you have told me. It is just hard for me to wrap my head around a 22K discount without financing incentives being a better deal than a 40K discount w/ 1.9%.

I know the 08 is pushing 2 years old, but the 09 is a year old. I know the 09 has also been redesigned, but is it worth such a premium...

AND if 09 is worth the $15K-$18K premium is $90K a a good enough price on a $112K MSRP C2S Cab to justify making the purchase now? Or does it make more sense to wait until the 2010 hit the showroom?

2010 models are already here . They were on dealership websites then then were removed. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-you-know.html

Of course waiting until Oct/nov/dec and bidding at months end will help but if you want the car now it's worth looking . You may get lucky.

I once had a two year old Porsche with only 1000 miles and considered trade in . I was offered 20K less for my car . That is what will happen to your new 08 leftover the minute you take delivery.

A cash deal is always the best route . PFS is not giving something for nothing . An 08 heavily optioned C4S Tip is not a highly desired car . A C2S PDK is.

Plus .. if meteor was your first choice I agree with you on that too . It's beautiful .

In the current market is purchasing @ 90K cash for an 112K MSRP 09 meteor/black C2S Cab PDK (heated, ipod, bose, sports chrono, nav, bluetooth, power seats) worth pulling the trigger on? Or can one do better?

Is it a good enough deal or do you believe one can do better?
I would run those numbers by my area dealership and see if they can compete but I would be surprised to beat that deal. You read my posts .. I always tell people to look for better but 90K cash for a 112K MSRP new car sounds pretty damn good to me.

What are the options on that car?

So, you are definitely of the opinion that a 09 C2S Cab (at 22K under MSRP) is worth a $15K-$18K premium over the 08 C4S Cab (at 40K under MSRP)?

Options on the 09 C2S @ 90K are:
619 - Bluetooth Phone Interface
405 - 19" Carrera Classic Wheel
693 - 6-Disc CD/DVD Changer
870 - Universal Audio Interface
810 - Floor Mats in Interior Color
686 - XM Radio
P15 - Pwr Comfort Seats w/Driver Mem
672 - Navigation Module for PCM
640 - Sport Chrono Package Plus
342 - Heated Front Seats
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
680 - Bose High End Sound Package

Worth pulling the trigger on? Or can one do better by waiting?

Wow !! That is a nice car . I will debate you one bit if you buy that car for 90K. That sounds great. It's leaps above the 08 Tip in every way.

Make sure to ask for the clear side markers when you take delivery.

That dealership will probably shed a tear that you didn't buy the 08 Tip C4S Cab . They are so stuck with that car . But your meteor car is a car they could sell . It has all the bells and whistles for an ideal street So CalCab.

OK, help me out, what are clear side markers?

What do you mean by this --> I will debate you one bit if you buy that car for 90K

Is the 08 C4S Cab Tip really that bad a deal at 80K? What should it sell at?

1) I meant to say I won't debate you . (typo) . It's late . I really like the meteor cab you posted.

2)It's not that the 08 is is a bad deal . It's just not a great deal considering the car's age and dated PCM unit and transmission, and less Hp of the engine of the vehicle .

3) clear side markers refer to the amber color lights on the side of the car . The European Porsches are clear but in the USA they come with those awful lights and most switch them . Since I always get mine at delivery I will show an example with someone elses car . Here are two cars . look at the difference,
I will also show you a close up of the clear light on my car .

The dealership usually will give this to you for free but if you forget to ask it will cost you 50 bucks or so.

Thanks for that bit of advise!

OK. So in a nutshell you believe the 09 meteor is worth ~$15K-18K more than 08 Tip. Correct?

Does it effect your judgment at all if I plan to keep this car foreseeable future (5+ years, perhaps much longer)

This conversation has definitely caused me to reconsider my purchase...

That's even more of a reason to buy the 09 . It's the more powerful, more comfortable (i pod , bluetooth etc) , newly designed , state of the art transmission Porsche . It will provide 5 years of a better driving car and when you go to sell it even though it will be old it will be the first year the more recent version . The parts of the 08 car can even be compared to 06 and 07 cars . The 09 can not.

It is hard for me to swallow the extra $15K+ for a lower MSRP car, but you make a hell of a case for it.

Even though the 2008 car has a higher MSRP it lost the 15 grand just because it sat with one years time which was long enough for Porsche to update so many things . The fact that an automatic (Tip vs PDK) is mandatory not only pushes the 09 in front it absolutely slam dunks the 08 just on that feature alone . But then add to this the HP increase, the ipod, bluetooth, and body refresh and we are discussing a much better car.

Usually I tell pople to save money with a CPO manual 07 car but if you can get a 113K car for 90 then dollar for dollar the new car deals are looking very attractive .

In your case its a lock . They will be happy to sell you an 09 car but they will also be sad that they are stuck with that 08 .
