Your individual question is not annoying, but I'd like the moderators to consider creating a sub folder for these questions, as they've become increasingly prevalent, and as a whole, the mass of them are annoying.
To answer your question:
-I think it's a great deal. However, if you don't like the color, it's an issue at any price. Good luck.

hey Catman....mods can't create new sections but admins can...I think you may have a good idea for an annoying questions section...why don't you go to the site news & feedback section and suggest it
It's a respectable asking price IF the car is in good shape . Quite often if it looks too good to be true -it isn't. Don't let the price be the bait because a problematic car can become a money pit . Run it through the tests . Then you'll know what its really worth.
+1, I am getting tired of people asking the question. Why can't people do good old fashion research? Also the constant input from people saying that they could/should get a better price only drives the market value of these used cars down.
As owners it commonly seen that more than the price discussions hinge on what a car is worth . It takes into account miles, wear, modifications , and other aspects of a used car's history where a person who has owned these cars can voice how those aspects impacted his ownership experience .
Quite often posters will share that a well cared car is worth more than one which isn't. So price discuusions do not only point to the negative but the positive as well .
Ultimately a buyer and a seller make the transaction . They make the decision and either can accept or reject it. If a car costs less in one region or three times as much in another country it is irrelovant to those two people .

I paid more then what my research on here said would be the right price, but based on the particulars with my car, plus things that I wanted out of the deal, made for the higher price then recommendation to make a lot of sense. I still got a great deal on the car, but I also think that the seller understands what *they* want out of the car and what they will settle for. So if the price is being driven down, it is more the seller making that final decision they are willing to accept the price being offered. Supply and demand at it's finest. When the buyer has all the say, during touch economic times as these, your right, the price will go down, but the seller has to agree to those terms and ultimately it is not the person doing the research driving the price down, but those selling that are willing to let it go for less.
For many, myself included, part of the research process is gathering input from people who have first hand knowledge of the cars, and have actually gone through the process of buying a used Porsche. I recognize that my research process is not comprehensive, so by reaching out to others I tap into their information and fill in any gaps I have. Sort of a distributed research project.
Edit: As an aside, many of the classic car forums have a dedicated WIW forum, or force the WIW threads intto the buy / sale forum vs. a general forum.
The car buying guide sites provide one source as well. But again, are only one source.
Just my 2 cents and perspective. Hope it helps.

Way too many "is this a good deal" post on this forum in the last few months, makes me feel like it is Edmunds.com or KBB!
As Cattman said, a new section for price checking might be a good idea, as at one time sponsors were allowed to post pictures of new products in the normal forums. After a while there were sponsors posting up way too much non related post ie Ferrari Wheels in a Porsche forum. This started the Vendor section.
As a buyer, I can give insight to that. When the range of cars with similar options are available with a price difference of over 20%-30% it may point to a decent amount of inefficiency or at least uncertainty in the market. As an example, compare the prices for a similar car on Autotrader, Cars.com, Porsche pre-owned search, this forum, Rennlist and ebay. For humor value look at the prices for a 996 GT2. It ranges from $110K to $70K while the options do not vary and the miles "only" range 10K miles.

The problem with asking a forum "is this a good price" is some one always seems to know/think that the price is too high, or wants to make a point of saying they got a better deal. This starts the cycle of price grinding, the seller saying well I was told that this was too high, etc etc.
When I bought my current 997C2S almost 2 years ago, I bought it from a nice guy in Chicago, and within a 10 minute phone conversation had agreed on a price that both were happy with.
Good luck with the purchase of your 997, and when you buy it, please make sure you repay those that have helped you with your research by contributing to the forums.
If the car is what you're looking for it is. But half the respondents tell you it's a good price will you buy it ? If 40% say yes.. ? If everyone says no will you continue to look for a cheaper car only to find our it doesn't have the options you wanted or the color, or.... Have you searched the net to determine how many cars that fit your requirements are available, where they're located and at what price they are listed ? The question is have you spent time to try to determine what your options are if you don't get the answer you're looking for here. Otherwise you'll never stop looking and asking is this a good price ?
A number of my posts are things I learned from other members. If I had to share the same answer a hundred times to a hundred members asking the same question then that's my choice. Looking at the bright side, I would have increased my post count by a hundred
.
i agree with what you guys are saying, I came to a conclusion myself that is is a good deal after doing a little more research and seeing what you guys had to say.
I do have another noob question though.
i looked around on the forum didnt seem to find the post, even tho i believe is did see it a couple weeks ago. the post about what test and what i should look for when seeing the car in person.
can some please tell me or just direct me to the post.
